Hong Lam Spiritual Energy - the source that nurtures identity and talent
One early morning, standing on the bank of the Lam River flowing through Nghi Xuan area, Mr. Nguyen Van Thong - a resident of Tien Dien village, the hometown of the great poet Nguyen Du, smiled and pointed towards the Hong Linh mountain range hidden in the morning mist: "We, the people of Ha Tinh, are very proud! Hong Mountain and Lam River are not only the landscape but also the soul of this land. Every inch of land and every person is associated with a cultural story, a sacred legend."

From Tien Dien – the hometown of the great poet Nguyen Du, to Co Dam – where rustic folk songs still echo; from the ancient trading port of Hoi Thong to the archaeological site of Bai Coi – Phoi Phoi, all blend into a vibrant cultural epic. On the Hong Linh range, ancient pagodas such as Dai Hung, Thien Tuong, Hang Pagoda, Huong Tich Pagoda… still preserve the breath of a thousand years of history.
The legend of “99 phoenixes perched on 99 Hong Linh peaks” or the legend of Princess Ba practicing to become Bodhisattva Guan Yin is not only a folk tale but also reflects the belief in the sacredness of the land. It is this spirituality that has given birth to many heroes and celebrities – people who have contributed to the proud identity of Hong Lam.
For a long time, people have been saying: "Spiritual land gives birth to talented people". Ha Tinh is a living proof of that saying. In difficult times, people here are still passionate about learning, creating, and devoting themselves to great causes. Scholarly families such as Nguyen Huy (Can Loc), Phan Huy (Loc Ha), Nguyen Khac, Dinh Nho (Huong Son)... have contributed to creating a land of "geography, geography, and geography".
Names such as Nguyen Cong Tru, Le Huu Trac, Bui Cam Ho, Phan Huy Ich, Nguyen Du... have been recorded in Vietnamese history with great contributions in politics , medicine, and literature. In the 20th century, Ha Tinh continued to give birth to great intellectuals such as Tran Phu, Ha Huy Tap, Hoang Xuan Han, Nguyen Khac Vien, Xuan Dieu, Huy Can... all of whom have national and international stature.
Not only the talented people, but also the folk songs Vi Giam, Ca Tru, Kieu plays, Ho Cheo Can, Sac Bua… are all “living treasures” passed down from generation to generation. UNESCO has twice honored the cultural heritage of Ha Tinh – a testament to the enduring vitality of the culture of this land.

Since the August Revolution, the intellectual community of Ha Tinh has grown stronger and stronger, with many people honored in the academic world, taking on important responsibilities in the fields of science, education and national development. Generations of Ha Tinh students have continuously achieved excellent results in national and international competitions, continuing the tradition of studiousness and respect for morality of their homeland.
Ms. Tran Quynh Trang, a teacher at Ha Tinh Specialized High School, proudly shared : “Here, studying is not just to pass exams, but to expand knowledge, to make the homeland famous. From small villages, many generations of Ha Tinh students have stepped out into the world with the desire to contribute.”
That is the "cultural - human resource" that Resolution No. 18-NQ/TU of the Executive Committee of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee (issued on December 22, 2023) identified as the key driving force for sustainable development.
Unleashing the endogenous power of culture and people
Continuing the spirit of "culture lights the way for the nation", Ha Tinh has clearly affirmed the view: culture is not only a goal, but also an endogenous force promoting socio-economic development.
Resolution No. 18-NQ/TU dated December 22, 2023 of the Provincial Party Committee on "Building and developing Ha Tinh culture and people in the new period" clearly states: "Cultural development must be in harmony with politics, economy and society; building a healthy cultural environment, comprehensively developing people with noble personalities " . That is not just a slogan, but has become a concrete action in today's life.

The leader of Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee affirmed: “Cultural development must go hand in hand with preserving and spreading good traditional values. Every child of Ha Tinh, no matter where they are, needs to contribute to promoting the image of their homeland, fostering the identity and pride of the people of Ha Tinh, who are rich in affection, studiousness and resilience ” .
Ha Tinh is investing heavily in key cultural institutions: building the Provincial Museum, the Traditional Arts Theater, the Memorial Site of General Secretaries Tran Phu and Ha Huy Tap, renovating the Hai Thuong Lan Ong relic site, and forming the cultural space “Nguyen Du – Truyen Kieu”. The goal is not only to preserve, but also to “awaken” cultural values, turning them into assets serving the development of tourism and creative economy.
Along with that is the program to build Ha Tinh people to develop comprehensively, love their homeland, respect loyalty, be diligent, studious, dynamic, creative and have the aspiration to rise up in the digital age.

From rustic folk songs to modern resolutions, from the legend of Huong Tich pagoda to the light of schools, Ha Tinh is continuing to write the epic poem Hong Lam with pride and aspiration.
"Culture - people of Ha Tinh" today is not only the crystallization of historical values, the precious heritage left by our ancestors, but also the endogenous source of strength that nurtures the will and aspiration to rise up in the period of integration and development.
As the great poet Nguyen Du once wrote: “Lam river, Hong mountain are not only beautiful because of their charming natural scenery, but also contain the beauty of the soul, intelligence and mettle of the people of Ha Tinh, people rich in humanity, studious, resilient and creative, always looking forward with the belief and aspiration to build their homeland to become more and more beautiful and civilized.
