The QS AUR 2026 rankings expanded in scale, recognizing 25 Vietnamese educational institutions, including 8 schools appearing for the first time. Notably, 7 schools improved their rankings, 1 school maintained its position and 9 schools experienced a decline. In that general picture, VNU continued to maintain a stable development momentum, affirming its competitiveness in the region.

VNU's results in this ranking are thanks to the significant improvement in the highly weighted criteria groups, directly reflecting the quality of training and research. Regarding reputation and training quality, the two most important criteria, Academic reputation (weight 30%) and Recruitment reputation (weight 20%), both increased strongly in rank, ranking 122nd (up 14 places) and 128th (up 9 places) respectively.

VNU President, Mr. Hoang Minh Son said that the ranking results not only reflect academic prestige but also motivate the university to innovate and develop. The core goal of the university is to fulfill its national responsibilities: training high-quality human resources, researching and transferring knowledge, and providing policy advice to serve the country's sustainable development. VNU also focuses on expanding international cooperation, innovating the university governance model, promoting integration and improving the quality of training and research.
Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and 71-NQ/TW, together with recent directives from the General Secretary , have opened up great opportunities for the Vietnamese higher education system in the process of international integration. This achievement demonstrates the continuous efforts of universities in development to increase the position of Vietnamese higher education in the region and the world .
