The QS AUR 2026 ranking is the largest ever, with 1,529 higher education institutions from 25 countries and territories in Asia. The ranking results are based on an analysis of responses from more than 1.5 million academic votes and 520,000 employer votes worldwide. In addition, QS analyzed more than 200 million citations from 19.8 million scientific publications.
The results of Vietnam National University , Hanoi (VNU) in this ranking period were achieved thanks to clear improvements in highly weighted criteria groups, directly reflecting the quality of training and research.
In terms of reputation and training quality, the two most important criteria, academic reputation (weight 30%) and recruitment reputation (weight 20%), both increased strongly in rank, ranking 122nd (up 14 places) and 128th (up 9 places) respectively.
The quality and capacity of research is clearly demonstrated through the ranking criteria of international research network, when VNU increased 14 places to enter the top 75 universities in Asia. This index shows the level of international integration and cooperation in research of VNU units and scientists .
VNU President Hoang Minh Son emphasized that, together with other Vietnamese universities, VNU is well aware that in order to catch up with the world's leading universities, it is necessary to make efforts to innovate the governance model, improve the quality of training and research, expand international cooperation and promote quality integration. Resolutions No. 57-NQ/TW and 71-NQ/TW, together with recent instructions from the General Secretary, have created great opportunities and advantages for the Vietnamese higher education system in general and VNU in particular in the integration process, affirming its position on the international knowledge map.
According to VNU Director Hoang Minh Son, VNU identifies ranking as not a goal, but a tool and criterion for comparison, learning, improvement, and thereby improving quality according to international standards. The top priority of VNU is to fulfill national responsibilities, make practical contributions to training high-quality human resources, research - knowledge transfer and policy consultation to serve the country's sustainable development.
“VNU wishes to cooperate with Vietnamese universities, share experiences and develop together, to increase the position of Vietnam's higher education system in the region and the world, thereby contributing to the mission of developing the country in the new period,” said VNU Director Hoang Minh Son.
