Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Yen - Deputy Director of the Center for Energy Information and Electricity Market Development (Electricity Authority - Ministry of Industry and Trade ) said: The event aims to disseminate, update and discuss new policy mechanisms in the electricity sector, especially mechanisms associated with the energy transition process, such as the DPPA mechanism (direct power purchase and sale), the competitive wholesale electricity market (VWEM) and financial models promoting energy efficiency in industry.
“To realize the goal of sustainable development of the electricity industry, not only do we need the right policies, but we also need the support of businesses and the understanding of the mechanism from electricity users. Along with that, we help businesses be more confident when entering the competitive electricity market and invest effectively in energy conversion,” Ms. Yen emphasized.
Meanwhile, Ms. Le Nguyen Duy Oanh - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Supporting Industry Development said that in the context of Vietnam's energy demand increasing by an average of 8 - 10% per year, using energy economically and efficiently is not only an economic solution, but also a pillar to ensure energy security and environmental protection.
At the workshop, speakers analyzed the role of the two mechanisms DPPA and VWEM in attracting private investment, promoting transparency in the electricity market and contributing to achieving the goal of net zero emissions. At the same time, delegates also updated technical guidelines and simulated DPPA transactions from the national power system operator.

Delegates also shared about policy solutions and investment opportunities towards Net Zero 2050; the importance of energy efficiency and sustainable cooling; Vietnam Energy Saving Network - rapid energy audit program.
With a program consisting of many presentations and dialogues, the Organizing Committee expects the workshop to be a bridge between management agencies, experts, investment enterprises and electricity users, helping all parties understand and properly apply current regulations, thereby promoting a fair and transparent energy transition process.
