The 2-1 victory over U22 Laos in the opening match of Group B of the men's football SEA Games 33 did not satisfy fans. Coach Kim Sang Sik has explained.

Mr. Kim Sang-sik believes that the opposing team has made clear progress through each tournament. He said: “As I shared before the match, Laos is getting stronger and stronger and has many individuals playing very well. The two teams have met many times so Vietnam understands Laos and Laos also understands Vietnam. Therefore, we are facing some difficulties.”

Coach Kim Sang-sik said that U22 Vietnam lost concentration when conceding a goal and was still poor at finishing: “After the first half, I saw the loss of concentration due to the goal, so I reminded the whole team to focus again. In the second half, the players played according to plan. However, we were also unlucky in finishing and unfortunately only scored 2 goals,” said Coach Kim Sang-sik.

The Korean coach said the loss came from a moment of lack of concentration, and also assessed the victory as a worthy reward for the team's efforts. "Today's result is the result of the players' efforts. I'm sorry about the loss in the first half, but the important thing is that we won. The whole team will quickly recover and prepare well for the match against Malaysia," coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized.

Coach Kim Sang-sik also gave special praise to striker Nguyen Dinh Bac - the player who scored twice to bring victory to U22 Vietnam and was chosen as the best player of the match. "I would like to congratulate Dinh Bac. He played very well and scored two important goals. However, our attack still has some areas to improve. We will continue to make adjustments to best prepare for the match with Malaysia," said coach Kim Sang-sik.

With the victory over U22 Laos, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will enter the second match against U22 Malaysia on December 11.
