In just five days, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) will officially open in Thailand. In the context of extremely hot weather, with temperatures often exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, hundreds of workers are still working day and night at Rajamangala Stadium, racing against time to complete the final items for the opening night.

Thailand has allocated a total budget of about 455.96 million baht (about 367 billion VND) for organizing the 33rd SEA Games and the 13th ASEAN Para Games. Of this, 166.28 million baht (about 13 billion VND) was allocated specifically for the opening ceremony, closing ceremony and torch relay, showing a large investment in the key events of the games.

Amid the sweltering heat, many workers took a lunch break right on the steps of the stands where they were working.

Anurak Phongchai shared: “This work has started more than a month ago. The closer it gets to the opening ceremony, the more work there is, from installing items, adjusting the grandstand lighting system, to cleaning each area. The hardest part is the parts that have to be climbed high because the sun is very harsh."

When the stage lights came on and the opening sound of the 33rd SEA Games resounded throughout Rajamangala, few people remembered the scorching sun or the makeshift sleep of the workers. However, it was their perseverance that contributed to completing all items on time, so that the opening ceremony took place completely and as expected.
