In just five days, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) will officially open in Thailand. In the context of extremely hot weather, with temperatures often exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, hundreds of workers are still working day and night at Rajamangala Stadium, racing against time to complete the final items for the opening night.
Thailand has allocated a total budget of about 455.96 million baht (about 367 billion VND) for organizing the 33rd SEA Games and the 13th ASEAN Para Games. Of this, 166.28 million baht (about 13 billion VND) was allocated specifically for the opening ceremony, closing ceremony and torch relay, showing a large investment in the key events of the games.

Behind the glory of an international sporting event is the image of silent, hard-working workers.

Despite the scorching heat, work at the construction site preparing for the opening night continued without stopping.

Many items are still in disarray. The VIP area in the stands is still in the process of being painted and tiled.

Amid the sweltering heat, many workers took a lunch break right on the steps of the stands where they were working.

Another group of workers found temporary shelter under the stairs, on the way to the main stand.

Anurak Phongchai shared: “This work has started more than a month ago. The closer it gets to the opening ceremony, the more work there is, from installing items, adjusting the grandstand lighting system, to cleaning each area. The hardest part is the parts that have to be climbed high because the sun is very harsh."

Workers had to climb to the roof of the stadium at an altitude of more than 100m to reinstall the roof details.

Trees and decorative flowers are also meticulously cared for to create a fresh green space, in harmony with the bustling atmosphere of the congress.

When the stage lights came on and the opening sound of the 33rd SEA Games resounded throughout Rajamangala, few people remembered the scorching sun or the makeshift sleep of the workers. However, it was their perseverance that contributed to completing all items on time, so that the opening ceremony took place completely and as expected.

The opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games will take place at Rajamangala Stadium on the evening of December 9, marking the official start of the Southeast Asian Games.
