The main reason for this situation is that agricultural production still lacks connectivity and market orientation. Farmers still mainly cultivate on a small scale, produce based on experience and trends; lack of coordination of raw material areas, lack of market information, causing imbalance between supply and demand. Preservation and post-harvest processing are not guaranteed, agricultural products are mainly sold fresh, when the main season comes, goods are congested, and prices "free fall" is inevitable. In addition, over-reliance on a few markets or exporting through unofficial channels also makes risks always present.
Faced with this situation, the Government has recently issued many directives, most recently the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 79/CD-TTg on proactively and synchronously implementing solutions to overcome the situation of "good harvest - low price", supporting consumption, and increasing income for farmers. Accordingly, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, and localities to study and adjust the crop season to suit market demand, ensuring supply-demand balance; promoting the linkage of raw material areas with consumer enterprises, enhancing preservation and deep processing; enhancing trade promotion, diversifying export markets, especially through official channels. The Prime Minister also requested to promote the application of science and technology , digital transformation, building growing area codes, tracing origins, and ensuring food safety standards to meet the increasingly stringent requirements of the international market.
Along with strong leadership and macro policies, to overcome the situation of "good harvest, low price", there needs to be effective implementation by local authorities, as well as the support of farmers themselves. Production organization needs to be more scientific , there needs to be proactive updating of market information and consumption trends; production must be linked to export standards, linked to what the market is demanding, not just relying on old farming habits. Only then can Vietnamese agricultural products escape the refrain of "good harvest - low price", and farmers' income and life will be stabilized and improved.
