In October and November 2024 alone, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached more than 3.1 million. According to travel businesses, this is a happy number for the Vietnamese tourism industry to aim for many goals in 2025.

The General Statistics Office recorded 1.42 million international visitors to Vietnam in October 2024, up 27.6% over the same period last year. Meanwhile, in November 2024, the number of international visitors to Vietnam increased sharply - more than 1.7 million, up 38.8% over the same period last year.

In the first 11 months of 2024, international visitors to our country reached more than 15.8 million arrivals, an increase of 41.0% over the same period last year.

According to Mr. Pham Duy Nghia - CEO of Vietfoot Travel, the reason for the sharp increase in the number of foreign tourists to Vietnam is because our country is entering the peak period of welcoming international visitors.

"Vietnam's peak period for welcoming international visitors will take place from October of the previous year to March of the following year. Western countries are entering the cold winter, so tourists from these countries will look for countries in the tropics with warmer climates. The number of international visitors to Vietnam during this time will often increase dramatically," said Mr. Nghia.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tran The Dung - CEO of Vietluxtour, said that Vietnam will achieve the target of welcoming 17 to 18 million international visitors in 2024 and can completely raise this target to a higher level in 2025.

"For Vietluxtour alone, from October until now, we have welcomed three times more visitors than before. Therefore, the industry-wide target of welcoming about 1.9 million visitors per month is completely achievable when Vietnam is in the peak period of welcoming international visitors. I predict that we will achieve that target or approximately, not too far behind," Mr. Dung stated his opinion.

Vietluxtour CEO believes that in 2025, when Russia and some Eastern European countries go through a period of political instability, Vietnam will have the opportunity to welcome a large number of international visitors.

"Vietnam has the advantage of being a country with a long coastline, diverse culture, cuisine , climate and extremely good infrastructure. In recent years, Vietnam has emerged as a safe and politically stable destination, so a number of new tourist markets are shifting to Vietnam such as India, Korea, etc. Therefore, we can be completely confident in setting goals to welcome more international visitors, thereby having better preparations", said the CEO of Vietluxtour.

According to the plan, by 2025, Vietnam will become an attractive destination with high tourism development capacity globally.

Specifically, by 2025, Vietnam aims to welcome 25-28 million international visitors; 130 million domestic visitors, maintaining a domestic visitor growth rate of 8-9% per year. By 2030, the goal is to attract 35 million international visitors, with a growth rate of 13-15% per year, and 160 million domestic visitors, with a domestic visitor growth rate of 4-5% per year.

In terms of economic efficiency, by 2025, the tourism industry is expected to directly contribute 8-9% to GDP and reach 13-14% of GDP by 2030.

By 2045, tourism will assert its role as a driving force of the economy. Vietnam will become a prominent global destination, among the leading tourism-developed countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The tourism industry aims to welcome 70 million international visitors, generating total revenue of about VND 7.3 billion, contributing 17-18% to GDP.
