On September 29, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with Kien Giang province to open the Mekong Delta OCOP Product Connection Forum 2024 with the theme "Linking for mutual development - Kien Giang 2024".
According to the Central Office for New Rural Area Coordination, in 2022, the forum was held for the first time, the number of OCOP products of the Mekong Delta ranked 3rd in the country, accounting for 17.1% of the total number of OCOP products.
This year, the Mekong Delta rose to second place, accounting for 21.2% of the country's products with more diverse, beautiful and convenient quality, designs and packaging of OCOP products, making OCOP subjects more confident and mature.
After 6 years of nationwide implementation, the “One Commune One Product” Program has affirmed its suitability and spread. Currently, the Mekong Delta region has 2,951 products of 1,521 entities recognized as achieving 3 stars or more.
Many provinces and cities in the region have had an appropriate approach when focusing on and prioritizing the development of traditional and typical products, associated with the advantages of abundant raw material areas such as: seafood, rice, fruit, etc. to develop unique products.

The Mekong Delta OCOP Product Connection Forum 2024 will take place from September 29 to October 3, 2024, with 320 booths of cooperatives, craft villages, and production facilities of enterprises inside and outside the province. In addition, there will be a space to display fish sauce products and food processing booths using Phu Quoc's more than 200-year-old traditional fish sauce.
At the forum, there was also a conference "Connecting OCOP products with trade systems"; a contest "Typical OCOP products of the Mekong Delta region"...
Mr. Giang Thanh Khoa, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that the forum is an important event for localities across the country to meet, exchange experiences, introduce products and promote potential, trade promotion opportunities, and connect markets for OCOP products.
From there, research the market to build appropriate production and business strategies to meet the increasing demands of the market, contribute to the development of the OCOP program, improve the quality of the National Target Program on new rural construction...
