Opening of the Song Doc Whale Festival 2025

On the evening of March 13, 2025, at Lang Ong Song Doc, in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, the opening ceremony of the Song Doc Whale Festival 2025 took place. Attending were Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with leaders of departments, branches, localities in the province and a large number of people in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district.

Mr. Nguyen The Chau, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district delivered the opening speech of the festival.

Nghinh Ong Song Doc Festival is a long-standing traditional festival in Ca Mau , now marking the 100th anniversary of the festival. This is a ceremony to pray for favorable weather, for national peace and prosperity. In particular, fishermen pray for safe sailings and to catch lots of shrimp and fish. Nghinh Ong Song Doc Festival is also an opportunity for visitors from near and far to come to Ca Mau to learn about the cultural beauty of coastal fishermen. Nghinh Ong Song Doc Festival in 2025 with the theme: "National intangible cultural heritage Nghinh Ong Song Doc Festival - Ca Mau 100 years of formation and development" with many rich activities taking place from March 11 to March 17, 2025 ( February 12 to February 18 , lunar year At Ty ) . The festival is organized on a provincial scale, ensuring suitability with the local socio -economic situation, with the aim of preserving, conserving and promoting the value of local cultural heritage, honoring cultural traditions and good folk beliefs of coastal residents, and at the same time satisfying the spiritual needs of fishermen in the Mekong Delta region in general and Ca Mau province in particular.

Especially the Whale parade on the streets of Song Doc town; rituals and ceremonies of Whale on the sea, pre-lecture offering ceremony, main offering ceremony at Ong Mausoleum and cultural activities according to traditional customs.
