Opening of the Exhibition “80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness”: Proud of our Vietnam on the rise

In the festive and heroic atmosphere of the historic autumn days, the whole country was jubilantly and excitedly celebrating the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day, the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2; on the morning of August 28, at the National Exhibition Center, Dong Anh Commune, Hanoi City, the Opening Ceremony of the National Achievements Exhibition took place to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) with the theme "80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness".

The exhibition is an event of great significance; an opportunity for the public to look back on the arduous but also extremely glorious historical journey of the nation; affirm Vietnam's position in the international arena; strengthen faith in the bright future of the country; create motivation and inspiration for the entire nation to enter an era of rich, civilized, powerful and prosperous development.

Attending the opening ceremony were Politburo members and former Politburo members: General Secretary To Lam; former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; and former National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Also attending were leaders and former leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front; members of the Politburo, members of the Secretariat, former members of the Politburo, former members of the Secretariat; members of the Party Central Committee, former members of the Party Central Committee; leaders and former leaders of departments, ministries, branches, central and local agencies; representatives of embassies, diplomatic agencies and international organizations in Vietnam.

At the event, delegates respectfully remembered and expressed their infinite gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh - the great teacher of the Vietnamese Revolution, the national liberation hero, the world cultural celebrity of Vietnam; remembered the great contributions of the elders and predecessors and expressed gratitude to the compatriots, soldiers nationwide, and our compatriots abroad through the periods who have contributed and devoted to the great revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

Welcoming the opening ceremony, famous artists gathered from all over the country, along with modern sound and light effects, combining chamber symphony with folk and contemporary music... brought a special art program, spreading the message of pride in the great achievements in the construction, protection and development of the country over the past 80 years.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, in his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that under the direction of General Secretary To Lam; the Government, the Prime Minister; relevant ministries, branches and Hanoi City have proactively and actively participated with the support and assistance of the people; directed, encouraged and accompanied Vingroup Corporation to demonstrate high determination, great efforts, drastic actions, closely follow the construction site, unite, overcome all difficulties, focus on "lightning-fast, bold" construction, after less than 1 year of construction instead of 2 years as originally planned, the National Exhibition Center - Top 10 largest national and international exhibition centers in the world has been completed; meeting all requirements set forth by the Prime Minister according to regulations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the exhibition "80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" is a special highlight, not only honoring the glorious historical journey, but also spreading patriotism, national pride, aspiration to rise up, affirming Vietnam's potential and position on the path of innovation, integration and development.

To prepare for this particularly important event, the Prime Minister decided to establish the Steering Committee for the Exhibition "80 years of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" and assigned Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh as Head of the Committee to directly direct the implementation. The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers directly went to the construction site many times to survey, inspect, evaluate the progress, urge the implementation, and remove obstacles; organized 3 meetings of the Government Standing Committee, 5 meetings of the Steering Committee, issued many Conclusions and Directive Telegrams to ensure the organization of the Exhibition on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day, the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2.

The Prime Minister said that the Exhibition was organized on the largest scale ever, with the full participation of 28 ministries, central agencies, 34 localities and more than 110 enterprises and large economic groups with more than 230 booths across the entire area of the Exhibition Center. The Exhibition introduced the achievements of nearly 180 industries in various fields with many documents, materials, artifacts, machinery and equipment, documentaries, reports, vividly and quite comprehensively reflecting the outstanding achievements during the "80-year journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" of our nation under the leadership of the Party.

The exhibition demonstrates the cultural traditions, the spirit of hard work, and effective production and business of the people and enterprises in all regions of the country; especially depicting the image of the country and people of Vietnam with thousands of years of heroic history of the nation; the culture imbued with national identity and unity in diversity of 54 ethnic groups; the richness of products in all 3 regions of the country; the development and progress of all ministries, departments, branches, 34 provinces and cities over the past 80 years.

In particular, the central area of the Exhibition with the theme "95 years of the Party flag lighting the way" stands out, recreating the general important events, brilliant milestones, and successes under the leadership of the Party; "Vietnam - Country - People" exhibition space on achievements in cultural and artistic development, honoring the beauty of nature, country and people of Vietnam; "Economic locomotive" exhibition space on achievements of state-owned corporations and groups; "Start-up and nation building" exhibition space on achievements of typical private enterprises; "Aspiration for the sky" exhibition space on the field of aerospace; "Sword and shield" exhibition space on achievements of the heroic People's Army and People's Public Security with modern weapons and technical equipment basically researched, manufactured and improved by Vietnam. In particular, the Exhibition Center has dedicated an entire building named "Culture lights the way for the nation" to display the unique cultural space and art of our nation through the regions of the country.

Looking back at the process of building the Exhibition Center and the preparation and organization of the Exhibition, the Prime Minister summarized it in 36 words: “Resolute leadership and direction - Speedy and bold construction - Effective public-private partnership - Unique architecture and landscape - Modern technology and management - Large scale and high quality”. All of these factors create a comprehensive and unique space, a panoramic picture of the entire process of fighting for national liberation, national reunification, fighting, working, studying and creating of our people under the leadership of the Party and beloved Uncle Ho.

According to the Prime Minister, the exhibition "80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" deeply reflects and is the crystallization of the contributions and dedication of the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army throughout the glorious and heroic 80-year history of the Vietnamese Revolution, with the very active, proactive and creative participation of the Party agencies at the Central level, the agencies of the National Assembly, all levels, sectors, localities, and representatives of the business community in the organization and implementation process.

The exhibition is also a “living school”, with a harmonious combination of tradition and modernity, bringing history closer and more accessible, so that today’s generations can better understand their origins, the great sacrifices and achievements of previous generations; thereby adding motivation, inspiration, and nurturing the aspiration to bring the country steadily into a new era, an era of wealth, civilization, prosperity, and prosperity, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the agencies, units, localities and enterprises that have actively and effectively contributed to the completion of the project and the organization of the Exhibition; so that people can better understand the glorious and heroic historical traditions of the nation and enjoy the cultural achievements as a spiritual festival of the country.

According to the Prime Minister, this exhibition is not only about the achievements, but also a vivid demonstration of the great potential of the cultural industry, entertainment industry and the great creativity of the Vietnamese people in the harmonious and effective combination of political - economic - traditional cultural - historical content with modern and attractive expression, affirming the value of Vietnamese culture, the potential for commercialization of Vietnamese creative products, contributing to promoting the country's rapid and sustainable development.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to preside over and coordinate with ministries, branches, localities and enterprises to continue to carefully prepare and organize well all exhibition activities, art programs, conferences, exchanges, meetings, forums, etc. so that people in the country and international friends can experience, feel, and be proud of the country's achievements and enjoy the results of the National Exhibition Center as a new symbol of the capital and the whole country.

The Prime Minister hopes and believes that under the leadership of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, promoting the 80-year tradition of building, protecting and developing the country, the entire political system, all levels, sectors, localities and all our people will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, unity, and effort to strive to successfully achieve the two 100-year strategic goals set by the Party.

Immediately after the opening ceremony of the exhibition, General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and delegates visited the spaces displaying the country's achievements.

The exhibition of national achievements with the theme: "80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" is held on an area of nearly ^260,000m2 including indoor exhibition space (Permanent Exhibition Center (House A) and Kim Quy Exhibition Center) and outdoor exhibition space.

In the outdoor area, there are exhibition spaces with the following themes: Sword and Shield; For a Green Future, Aspiration for the Sky; National Festival. In which, the exhibition space "Sword and Shield" displays typical weapons and technical equipment researched and manufactured by Vietnam and weapons and technical equipment in the Army and Police. The exhibition space "For a Green Future, Aspiration for the Sky" introduces products and achievements of the energy and environmental technology industries, especially real aircraft, models, sand tables, experience areas, interactive screens, 3D videos. The exhibition area "National Festival" includes exhibitions, fairs, cuisine, and experiences of agencies, units, and localities nationwide.

At the permanent exhibition center (building A), a "picture" of achievements from 12 cultural industries is introduced, such as advertising, architecture, software and entertainment games, handicrafts, design, cinema, publishing, fashion, performing arts, fine arts, photography and exhibitions, television and radio, cultural tourism, etc.

The highlight and main space of the Exhibition “80 years of Independence - Freedom - Happiness journey” is the display space at Kim Quy Exhibition House - which sketches a panoramic, vibrant picture of the 80-year journey of building and developing the country with the theme “Vietnam - Journey to a new era”.

With the participation of nearly 300 units from ministries, departments, branches, 34 provinces and cities and enterprises nationwide, the exhibition area is divided into 6 themes, closely related to the country's development journey such as: Vietnam - Country - People; 95 years of the Party Flag guiding the way; Creation and development; Economic locomotive; National startup; Rich province, strong country.

Through the display of large panels, models, photos, drawings, documents, artifacts combined with 3D mapping projection, virtual reality experience, multimedia audiovisual works, digital technology applications, AI... the exhibition introduces the history and culture of Vietnam - the country - people with thousands of years of cultural traditions; the richness and diversity of the cultures of 54 ethnic groups; the richness of resources, products of the three regions and outstanding architectural works past and present across the country. The exhibition introduces many typical products and symbols; development achievements in all fields such as industry, technology; investment, trade; agriculture, rural areas; security, defense; foreign affairs; health, education; culture, sports and tourism...

The exhibition "80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness" welcomes people and tourists to visit from August 28 to September 5, 2025 .
