Reuters reported that during the phone call, the Russian leader affirmed his support for the "one China" principle.
For his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping called on the two countries to pursue close strategic coordination and protect each country's sovereignty , security and development interests, and resolutely oppose interference by external forces in internal affairs.
Xi Jinping said that the two countries should also nurture new momentum of cooperation and maintain the stability of industrial chains and supply chains.
Meanwhile, according to Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, the two leaders said their foreign policy would aim to create "a more equitable, multipolar world order".
President Putin and President Xi Jinping also discussed the situation in Ukraine and resolving conflicts in the Middle East, and agreed to continue bilateral communication.
