Affirming the contributions of Comrade Nguyen Trac

The workshop was chaired by comrades: Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Duc Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and Vo Xuan Ca - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.

The seminar was attended by leaders from central ministries and agencies; current and former provincial leaders; scientists and researchers; and representatives of the family and clan of Comrade Nguyen Trac.

In his opening remarks, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department Vo Xuan Ca stated that the seminar aimed to honor and affirm the contributions of Comrade Nguyen Trac to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and his homeland of Quang Nam - Da Nang ; and to collect and supplement documents on the career and revolutionary activities of Comrade Nguyen Trac as a basis for supplementing and clarifying the glorious revolutionary tradition of the Party Committee and people of Quang Nam - Da Nang.

"The person primarily responsible for re-establishing the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee"

At the seminar, leaders, delegates, and historical researchers presented papers focusing on clarifying the revolutionary activities and contributions of Comrade Nguyen Trac to the revolutionary cause, especially the re-establishment of the Quang Nam Provisional Provincial Party Committee and the restoration of the revolutionary movement in the province during the years 1936-1939.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, during the dark years under the yoke of the colonial regime from 1930 to 1945, Da Nang City in particular, and Quang Nam - Da Nang province in general, became the cradle of the revolution in Central Vietnam, where the Central Vietnam Regional Party Committee established its base and springboard, sowing the first seeds of national liberation.

During that period, Comrade Nguyen Trac (alias Thieu) left significant marks, especially in the period 1936-1939 (as Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, during the time when the Party branches in Da Nang belonged to the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee) and the uprising to seize power in 1945 (as Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee).

Accordingly, at the end of 1936, Comrade Nguyen Trac invited one comrade from each prefecture and district to a meeting at the house of Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Kinh in Tan Hanh village (now Hoa Phuoc commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city). The conference advocated developing the Party's strength and the strength of the masses, both secretly and openly, in a comprehensive manner.

The conference decided to establish a provisional Provincial Party Committee consisting of 7 members, with Comrade Nguyen Trac as Secretary. Following the conference, the provisional Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee proceeded to establish district and county Party committees; assigning Provincial Party Committee members to be in charge of the districts and counties, to work with the district and county Party committees in leading the revolutionary movement in the localities.

Thus, for the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee (including Da Nang) in the initial phase of implementing the strategic shift towards the struggle for people's livelihoods and democracy, Comrade Nguyen Trac played a leading role in re-establishing the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, restoring the district and county Party committees, and reorganizing the activities of the Provincial Party Committee.

Presenting a paper on the activities and contributions of Comrade Nguyen Trac at the Central Legal Affairs Committee during the period 1966-1979, Associate Professor Dr. Truong Thi Hong Ha - Deputy Director, Vice Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, stated: "With a simple lifestyle and extraordinary intellect, Comrade Nguyen Trac always wholeheartedly dedicated himself to the Party and the people, but always clearly distinguished between public and private affairs, devoting all his time and passion to the Party, the Vietnamese revolution, and the Party's internal affairs work."

Suggestions, proposals...

At the workshop, representatives from the leadership of Da Nang City and the family of Comrade Nguyen Trac presented several proposals and recommendations.

Specifically, Mr. Nguyen Chinh (son of Comrade Nguyen Trac) suggested that researchers and relevant agencies clarify the role of Comrade Nguyen Trac during the period of seizing power in Da Nang (August 1945), specifically his position as Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee; this position is not currently mentioned in the history of the Provincial Party Committee.

In addition, Mr. Nguyen Chinh also requested further clarification regarding the period when Comrade Nguyen Trac was in charge of the Central Judicial School, the first training center for legal cadres in the socialist North.

We request that relevant agencies in Quang Nam province and Dien Ban town pay attention and create favorable conditions to help our family build a memorial house for Comrade Nguyen Trac, aiming to establish it as a historical revolutionary site in our hometown.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, proposed expanding the naming of streets after Comrade Nguyen Trac in Quang Nam, Da Nang, and other provinces and cities. He also suggested naming schools after Comrade Nguyen Trac in Dien Ban town (Quang Nam province) and Hoa Vang district (Da Nang city).

Furthermore, the authorities of the two localities need to coordinate to continue collecting, preserving, and displaying documents and artifacts about Comrade Nguyen Trac in order to educate about revolutionary traditions...

Concluding the seminar, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stated that the seminar had provided additional documentation to further clarify the life, career, and passionate revolutionary activities of Comrade Nguyen Trac throughout various revolutionary periods and in many positions, as well as the noble qualities of a steadfast revolutionary soldier and an outstanding son of Quang Nam province.
Comrade Luong Nguyen Minh Triet stated that, following the seminar, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee will assign the Propaganda Department of Quang Nam Province, in coordination with the Propaganda Department of Da Nang City and other relevant agencies, to collect documents, conduct research, and verify information to supplement and adjust the activities and contributions of Comrade Nguyen Trac to the revolutionary cause of the Party and his homeland of Quang Nam and Da Nang in historical works, ensuring objectivity and scientific accuracy.
