Prosecution of former Deputy Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee Phan Thi My Thanh

The Investigation Police Agency, Ministry of Public Security has decided to prosecute Ms. Phan Thi My Thanh, former Deputy Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, for the crime of "Receiving bribes" according to the provisions of the Penal Code.

According to the leader of the Police Department investigating crimes of corruption, economics , and smuggling, in addition to Ms. Thanh, 07 other defendants were also prosecuted for their involvement in the case that occurred at FreeLand Joint Stock Company (Ho Chi Minh City). These people were determined to have given and received bribes, and taken advantage of their positions and powers in investment and business activities.

During her career, Ms. Thanh held many key positions in Dong Nai province. In 2017, the Central Inspection Committee concluded that Ms. Thanh violated regulations on anti-corruption, lacked exemplary conduct, and abused her position and power in her work, causing public outrage. Ms. Thanh was disciplined with a warning and the Party Central Committee Secretariat decided to remove her from all positions in the Party in May 2018. After that, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued a resolution to remove her from the duties of a deputy of the 14th National Assembly following her resignation due to health reasons. The Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency is continuing to expand the case, clarifying the actions of related individuals to strictly handle them in accordance with the law.
