On the morning of January 1, the first day of 2025, while many people across the country were happily celebrating the New Year, workers and engineers on key national projects in the West were busy working through the holiday to speed up project progress.

During his break, Mr. Duong Van Nguyen, a construction technician of Trung Nam Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company (Trungnam E&C), called home to ask about his relatives and wish his family a smooth and prosperous new year.
“We celebrate Tet far from home, but with the mission of connecting the two banks, we always try to complete our tasks and meet the assigned schedule. Today is the New Year holiday, but the construction site at both ends of the girder casting truck has 40 people, and the night shift will have 30 people working,” Mr. Nguyen happily shared with Dan Tri reporter.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Phong, Director of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project Management Board, said that the overall progress of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge construction investment project connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces has been completed at about 75.12%, 0.36% faster than planned. The main bridge section - Rach Mieu 2 Bridge in particular is 17% ahead of schedule.
For the road section, construction has been carried out on the entire route of about 14km. To date, the project has completed 3/6 bridges including: My Tho bridge, Tam Son bridge and Ba Lai bridge (bridge on the approach road). The remaining 3 bridges are under construction including: Xoai Hot bridge, Rach Mieu 2 bridge and Song Ma bridge. The project strives to complete Xoai Hot bridge and Song Ma bridge before April 30, 2025; Rach Mieu bridge before October 30, 2025.
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces is 17.6km long. The total investment is over VND6,810 billion, using state budget capital.
The project started in March 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Once completed, the project will help reduce traffic on National Highway 60, especially "sharing the burden" for the existing Rach Mieu Bridge, which often experiences serious traffic congestion, especially during holidays and Tet.
On the same morning, Ben Tre province leaders visited, encouraged and gave gifts to workers and engineers constructing Rach Mieu 2 bridge.
At the Can Tho - Ca Mau highway, the section passing through Vi Thuy district ( Hau Giang ), the construction site is bustling with the sound of machinery operating, and workers are working with an excited spirit to welcome the new year.

Mr. Huynh Trung (35 years old, Quang Binh province) has been working on the highway project for more than a year, expressing that doing manual work is the hardest, especially on hot and humid days, when workers have to rest constantly. However, recently, the weather has been favorable, so the workers have been mobilized to work overtime and shift shifts regularly.
“Although we often have to work overtime, sometimes late at night, the company does not abandon us. We are always encouraged by the company and given extra overtime. Every time we are encouraged like that, we promise ourselves that we must always try our best to complete the unit's goals,” said Trung, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Vu Hong Quan, Deputy Director of the Truong Son Nam Management Board, he is currently in charge of the construction site of km49-53 of the Can Tho - Hau Giang expressway project.
Up to this point, the project is accelerating progress to complete by the end of 2025. The unit focuses all its human and material resources to ensure construction meets the requirements of progress and quality of the project.
At the construction site, there are currently about 200 engineers and workers synchronously implementing items from bridges, culverts, and weak soil treatment.
At the Lo Te Rach Soi intersection through Vinh Thanh district (Can Tho city), the working atmosphere is equally exciting. This is one of the intersections with beautiful locations on the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang highway, this highway has a length of more than 188km.
Mr. Bui Van Thanh, Deputy Commander of the XL1.11 package of Dinh An Group, said that the contractor is implementing 9 construction teams including beam casting, pile driving, and girder base construction. At the overpass construction site, there are currently 96 people working in shifts, with rotational shifts.
“On the first day of the year, we encouraged each other to work hard with high spirits to bring the project to the finish line soon. The weather is currently favorable, so the contractor is working day and night. With the current volume and progress, it is expected that the overpass at the intersection will be completed by the end of 2025,” Mr. Thanh added.
To encourage workers, contractors increase salaries, multiply coefficients and give Tet bonuses, helping them to be motivated to work.
