Marching on the heritage city

On December 18, Ha Long City held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day.

At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army in general and the armed forces of Quang Ninh province and Ha Long city in particular. At the same time, they reaffirmed the important significance of the National Defense Day.

Ha Long City Party Secretary Vu Quyet Tien acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of the armed forces to the city's socio -economic development achievements.

Overview of key findings   The city's achievements in socio-economic development, Secretary of the Ha Long City Party Committee Vu Quyet Tien emphasized: Contributing to that common development, the city's armed forces always uphold the will and determination to build a safe area, making efforts to advise the city's Party Committee and government to build a national defense foundation, associated with the people's security posture and a solid defense area. At the same time, they are proactive and take the lead in natural disaster prevention, search and rescue; well implement the military rear policy; actively participate in gratitude movements, build new rural areas, civilized urban areas... Within the framework of the Celebration, the "Vietnam People's Army - 80 years of steadfast faith" discussion took place with the participation of historical witnesses during the resistance war and representatives of the city's young generation.

Ha Long city leaders presented flowers and souvenir paintings of Uncle Ho to representatives of the city's armed forces.

The discussion listened to Lieutenant Colonel Do Xuan Cat - a former radar soldier of Battalion 135 - share his memories of the first victory on August 5, 1964 of the Vietnam People's Navy. Veteran Le Long Trieu - a special forces soldier with many memories on the fiery battlefield of the Southwest, told about his trips to find his comrades and bring the remains of 10 martyrs back to their homeland. At the discussion, teacher Giap Thi Phuong Thao (Tuan Chau Primary and Secondary School) and outstanding member Nguyen Ba Khai, outstanding student Tran Thanh Thao (Ngo Quyen High School) discussed the role of schools and teachers in educating today's young generation about gratitude as well as the value of learning history...

After the discussion, the delegates enjoyed the special art program "Marching on the heritage city". With elaborate staging, the art performances expressed pride, patriotism, honored the spiritual strength, indomitable will, revolutionary heroism of our Party, our people and the Vietnam People's Army. At the same time, emphasized the role of the city's armed forces in contributing to the cause of building and defending the country, towards building a model Ha Long city, rich, beautiful, civilized and affectionate.
