Proposal to build a new Cho bridge in Phu Trach commune to serve people's lives

On July 21, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction Hoang Dang Cuong said that the unit had just sent a document to the Provincial People's Committee requesting urgent funding to build Cho Bridge (Phu Trach Commune) to serve the people.

Previously, after receiving information from the press about the deterioration of Cho Bridge, the Department of Construction coordinated with the People's Committee of Phu Trach Commune and Quang Binh II Road Repair and General Construction Joint Stock Company (the unit performing maintenance and management of DT.558B route) to conduct a field inspection.

The inspection results showed that Cho Bridge was degraded and severely damaged, the stone and concrete piers were cracked, the bridge beams had peeled off the protective concrete layer, causing the steel reinforcement to protrude, the pier foundations were eroded, creating large gaps, with the potential risk of collapse or breakage at any time, so it could not be exploited or used.

The Department of Construction has sent a document to the Provincial People's Committee requesting approval of the policy and allocation of funding for urgent construction of a new Cho Bridge to replace the old Cho Bridge which has been seriously degraded and damaged, in order to ensure travel needs and serve the socio -economic development of the locality.

The new bridge is expected to be permanently built with reinforced concrete, with a width of the roadway Bm = 6.5m, a total width Bc = 7.5m, a total length of about 115m and roads at both ends of the bridge with a cost of about 50 billion VND. At the same time, the People's Committee of Phu Trach commune is requested to reasonably divide traffic and prohibit all people and vehicles from crossing the bridge to ensure safety.

Previously, the Quang Tri Newspaper published on July 12, 2025 published an article: "Cho Bridge is about to collapse, people "hold their breath" to travel", reflecting the serious deterioration and damage of Cho Bridge, spanning the upper reaches of Loan River in Phu Trach commune.
