Kroos points out Barcelona's scary points

Kroos believes Real need to improve a lot.

In the podcast "Einfach mal Luppen" on May 13, Kroos analyzed the El Clasico match in round 35 of La Liga last weekend. The former German player said: "Even after leading 2-0, I still thought the match would go in Real Madrid's favor. For me, leading 2-0 was a lucky thing."

Kroos also praised Barcelona's style of play and was impressed with their sharp counter-attacking ability. The former player added: "What was really impressive about Barcelona was that they continued to play as if nothing had happened. You didn't see any fear when they were ahead. Meanwhile, Real Madrid were still timid after leading 2-0."

According to Kroos, this mentality depends on the confidence of the current Barcelona players. "They are very confident when they have the ball. Real do not have the best confidence. The surprising thing is that Real did not take advantage of the lead," said Kroos.

The former German international believes Real's current weakness lies in their defense, due to the absence of a number of key players. This affects Real's ability to organize play from the back.

"Most teams in Europe put a lot of pressure on the defense. That's why it's difficult for Real to compete with the best teams this year. You can see many players have played almost the entire season. Real also lost many games that they had never lost before," Kroos added.

Real fans will be hoping for a strong comeback next season under Xabi Alonso. Real are aware of the need to strengthen their squad this summer, with targets including a right-back (Alexander-Arnold), a centre-back (Dean Huijsen), and a central midfielder (Martin Zubimendi). They may need to add a Joselu-type striker to their squad.
