• LAM DONG PROVINCE'S REVOLUTIONARY PRESS DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD AFTER LIBERATION (1975 -1985)
Right after the complete liberation of the South, Lam Dong province entered the stage of healing the wounds of war and stabilizing the people's lives. This was also the time when revolutionary journalism in Lam Dong was gradually shaped, creating the premise for future development.
Lam Dong Newspaper - the mouthpiece of the provincial Party Committee, published its first issue in August 1976, in the context of the whole country entering the process of unification and reconstruction. The articles at that time focused on propagating the Party's policies, mobilizing the people to increase production, stabilize their lives, and overcome the consequences of war.
Along with that, local radio news, especially the Radio Station - the predecessor of Lam Dong Radio and Television Station, also actively reported on labor emulation movements, resettlement, and new economic construction, broadcast on loudspeaker systems throughout villages and hamlets. This is considered a particularly useful information system until now. Although the press during this period was still rudimentary in form, it played a very clear role in creating social consensus, orienting ideology, and arousing the spirit of national solidarity.
• PRESS IN THE RENOVATION PERIOD (1986 -2000)
Entering the renovation process in 1986, Lam Dong began to transform strongly in the fields of agricultural production, industry, services and tourism. Local press also entered a period of development in terms of content and form. Lam Dong Newspaper at this time switched to large-format printing, regular publication and expanded content, reflecting practical issues of people's lives. Reports, investigations, and memoirs written about the process of eliminating subsidies, forming private economy, developing key economic zones such as Lam Ha, Don Duong, Bao Loc... inspired creativity and encouraged the spirit of innovation among the people.
In particular, the press during this period was very active in promoting programs to transform crop structure, develop high-tech coffee, vegetables, and flowers, contributing to creating a solid economic foundation for Lam Dong in the following years.
At the same time, radio and television programs began to shift from one-way propaganda to multi-dimensional reflection, closer to people's lives. Lam Dong Radio and Television Station has implemented many new columns such as "Today's Countryside", "Farmer's Friends", "Good People, Good Deeds"... creating a forum for exchange between the government and the people.
• PRESS ACCOMPANIES URBANIZATION AND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT (2000 - 2010)
Entering the 21st century, Lam Dong determined to develop the economy associated with urbanization, especially taking Da Lat as the center of tourism - services - scientific and technological research of the Central Highlands region.
The provincial press has made significant progress in terms of printing techniques, content quality and journalistic staff. Many in-depth articles have honestly reflected the urbanization process of Da Lat, Bao Loc and other major towns in the province, without avoiding the shortcomings in planning, architecture, environment or illegal construction.
In particular, the press has contributed to promoting the tourism brand “Da Lat - Flower Festival City”, the brand “Da Lat - Miraculous Crystallization from the Good Land”. Building the image of Da Lat as a green, clean, safe destination. Many articles, reports, documentaries on gong culture, indigenous ethnic identities, natural heritages... have spread the love for Lam Dong to readers nationwide.
During this period, the internet began to develop, many electronic information pages, provincial electronic information portals and local press agencies such as Lam Dong Electronic Newspaper, LTV online were born, creating an important turning point in reaching the public quickly and via multiple media.
• MODERN JOURNALISTRY…
In recent years, Lam Dong has entered a new development phase with the goal of building a green, circular economy, developing high-tech agriculture, quality tourism and smart cities. In that journey, the press continues to affirm its role as a "loyal and astute companion". Lam Dong press has now made a strong shift to a digital, multi-platform environment. Lam Dong Newspaper maintains a modern electronic version, constantly updated, multimedia (images, videos, podcasts). Lam Dong Radio and Television Station also develops strongly on YouTube, other social networks, and the LTV Go app, attracting millions of views each month.
The press content during this period not only focused on propagating policies and guidelines, but also delved into social criticism, accompanying the process of administrative reform, digital transformation, anti-corruption, and environmental protection. In addition, the press was also a leading force in discovering and praising good models and good deeds to spread and inspire strongly in social life.
In major events such as Da Lat Flower Festival, Techfest Tay Nguyen, Lam Dong Golden Tourism Week..., local press always plays an important role in propaganda, promotion and information connection. Especially, during the period of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 epidemic, Lam Dong press has demonstrated the spirit of frontline information soldiers, contributing to stabilizing social psychology, promoting the spirit of solidarity and mutual love.
Entering the new period, with the spirit of "Solidarity, Discipline, Creativity, Efficiency", the Party Committee, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in the province have been focusing on successfully implementing socio-economic development goals; successfully building many major policies such as: building Lam Dong into a center of green economy, high-tech agriculture and smart agriculture of the whole country; developing Lam Dong with a unique and modern identity; developing rapidly, sustainably and comprehensively. In that process, the province always determines that: the press is a vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front; is a reliable companion, contributing to maintaining social consensus, inspiring innovation, spreading the spirit of creativity and the aspiration to rise up and get rich for everyone...
• LAM DONG PRESS AND THE FUTURE STORY
On July 1, 2025, the new Lam Dong province will officially come into operation based on the merger of the three provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong. This is a strategic step in restructuring the development space of the Central Highlands and South Central regions, with the expectation of creating a larger administrative-economic entity, stronger competitiveness, and new development momentum in the integration period.
In terms of potential, the merger will create a new province with a natural area of nearly 25,000 km², a population of nearly 4 million people, possessing all the strengths to accelerate and develop sustainably including: terrain, climate, landscape; golden forests, silver seas, waterfalls, lakes; borders, islands; mineral resources, fertile land, diverse human resources. The new Lam Dong will be a land with comprehensive strengths to develop agriculture - forestry, processing industry, eco-tourism, resorts, renewable energy and logistics.
Regarding challenges, the new Lam Dong province will have to face many problems: differences in development level, culture, management habits; the risk of overlap in administrative mechanisms; the gap between rich and poor between regions; and especially the high requirements for planning and reorganizing the administrative apparatus in a streamlined and effective direction. In that process, the role of the press becomes more important than ever; and certainly, the post-merger press will overcome all obstacles, continue to accompany the government and people of the new province, widely spread positive values, create social consensus, build a new Lam Dong province to develop quickly, sustainably, worthy of its existing potential strengths. It can be said that this is a period when Lam Dong province is in great need of writers with heart, vision, multi-dimensional perspectives, who know how to put social interests and people's interests above all. The press is the leading force, paving the way, building the foundation of trust and connecting the strength of great solidarity in the process of "integration" and transformation of the new province.
Over 77 years of formation and development, especially since the liberation day until now, Lam Dong province's revolutionary press has been playing an important role in the province's comprehensive development. Regardless of the stage, Lam Dong province's press has always accompanied and contributed to orienting society, building trust and aspirations for an increasingly rich, civilized and affectionate Lam Dong.
