On the evening of April 22, 2023, at the Sea Square stage (Sam Son City), the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province solemnly held the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Sam Son urban area and opened the 2023 Sea Tourism Festival, with the theme "Sam Son sublimates and shines".

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Comrade Do Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed: Thanh Hoa has been known as the "fundamental" land of the country, where there are silver seas and golden forests, always playing an important role in politics, military, economy and culture of the nation. Mentioning Thanh land is mentioning the land of sediments of good cultural values with thousands of historical and cultural relics, scenic spots and diverse ecosystems, along with many unique intangible cultural heritages, which have contributed to the brilliant development of Vietnam's cultural treasure.
This is also the homeland of many heroes, scholars, and writers, whose names and careers have brought glory to their homeland and country. Inheriting and promoting the fine traditions forged over thousands of years of history, the land and people of Thanh are always confident, dynamic, constantly breaking through, and keeping pace with the country's innovation.
In the colorful picture of the land of "Thanh Ky Kha", Sam Son is both a young and vibrant city, and rich in historical and cultural traditions. From the love story of Hon Trong Mai, the Doc Cuoc god who split his body in half to protect the country and the people,... to the heroic epic of female spy Nguyen Thi Loi who sank the warship Amio Danh-vin and the historical imprints of the "North-South one family" sentiment, during the years of welcoming, caring for, and nurturing tens of thousands of wounded soldiers, cadres, students, and revolutionary families from the South who gathered in the North; in 1960, Sam Son was honored to have beloved Uncle Ho visit and pull nets with the fishermen... Sam Son has left a deep impression in the minds of many generations of Vietnamese people and is the pride of Thanh Hoa homeland.
In the general development strategy of the province, Sam Son has always been identified as a particularly important tourist city. Therefore, on April 19, 1963, the Council of Ministers (now the Government) issued Decision No. 50-CP on the establishment of Sam Son town under Thanh Hoa province. After nearly 120 years of forming a tourist destination and 60 years of construction and development, from a small town with an area of about 7.5 km 2 , a population of over 5,000 people; since 2017, Sam Son has become a city under the province, a bustling urban area with a population of nearly 110,000 people.
The economy has developed strongly, in which services and tourism have become key economic sectors; urban infrastructure has been invested in synchronously, modernly, and conveniently; many tourism services, entertainment areas, high-class resorts... have been completed and put into use; tourism culture has changed progressively. The number of tourists coming to Sam Son is increasing; in 2022, the whole province welcomed over 11 million visitors, of which Sam Son welcomed more than 7 million visitors.
Sam Son is gradually realizing its goal of becoming a key national tourist city, an ideal destination for domestic and international tourists.
On behalf of the leaders of Thanh Hoa province, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan expressed his sincere gratitude to the leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, ministries, central agencies, other provinces and cities, news agencies, newspapers; investors, friends and tourists from near and far; the children of Thanh Hoa homeland living all over the country and abroad who have always cared, supported, cooperated, and encouraged both materially and spiritually for the development of Thanh Hoa province in general and Sam Son city in particular. At the same time, he expressed his hope that in the coming years, Thanh Hoa province will continue to receive more attention and help to develop more and more, Sam Son will continue to "flourish and shine", contributing to making Thanh Hoa one of the major tourism centers of the country, a new growth pole in the North of the country.
After the main ceremonies, the 60th Anniversary of Sam Son City and the opening of the 2023 Sea Tourism Festival were followed by a special art program with the theme "Sam Son - Sublimation and Shine". The art program was elaborately staged, with a grand stage inspired by the Ho Dynasty Citadel - a UNESCO-recognized World Cultural Heritage of Thanh Hoa.
The modern lighting system creates outstanding effects, recreating typical images of the economy, culture and society of Thanh Hoa province and Sam Son city. The stage effects are continuously staged and transformed in each performance, hiding the unexpected appearance of actors and artists.
With 3 chapters "Sam Son - the rendezvous of love"; "The vastness of Thanh land and sky" and "Sam Son - Sublimation and radiance", the art program aims to depict and honor the cultural and historical traditions of Sam Son in particular, Thanh Hoa in general: From the glorious past, to the brilliant present and a prosperous future with international-class works.
The colors of Sam Son - Thanh Hoa are delicately and artistically portrayed through many unique and elaborately staged performances. These are lyrical songs praising the beauty of the homeland, the country and the land of Thanh, performed by many famous singers such as Tan Nhan, Luong Nguyet Anh, Le Anh Dung, Bui Le Man, ...
At the same time, the program also featured the appearance of many singers such as Thu Minh, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Tung Duong, Dong Hung, Oplus group,... with youthful and vibrant songs and dances, bringing the audience a feast of visuals and eye-catching lights.
The special art program has left many beautiful impressions on visitors, thereby contributing to promoting the beauty and potential for developing Thanh Hoa's sea tourism, the dynamic, vibrant, modern and civilized Sam Son coastal tourist city.
World-class water music show at Sea Square
Another highlight of this event is the world-class water music show, combining a multi-layered water display with stunning, eye-catching lighting effects at the Sea Square. With many themes such as “Sublimation - Shining”, “Sunshine Rendezvous”, “Symphony of the Sea”,... the show has brought visitors a new experience for the first time in Sam Son.
In particular, the ceremony ended with a sparkling, colorful fireworks display, lighting up the entire coastline to "sublimate and shine" with Sam Son.
