80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING DAY OF THE VIETNAM PEOPLE'S ARMY (December 22, 1944

The Vietnam People's Army is a new type of army, a people's army, by the people, for the people, the core force of the Vietnam People's Armed Forces, organized, educated and trained by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh. The name "People's Army" was given by President Ho Chi Minh with the meaning "born from the people, serving the people".

80 years ago, in response to the practical requirements of the revolution in December 1944, implementing the policy of the Party Central Committee, President Ho Chi Minh issued a Directive to establish the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army and assigned comrade Vo Nguyen Giap to be in charge. After a period of preparation, on December 22, 1944, in the forest between Hoang Hoa Tham and Tran Hung Dao communes of Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province (now Na Sang hamlet, Tam Kim commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province), the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army was established, consisting of 34 soldiers. This was a major historical event of the Vietnamese revolution. December 22, 1944, the founding day of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the first main force of the Vietnam People's Army, was taken as the Founding Day of the Vietnam People's Army.

After 80 years of building, fighting and growing, the Vietnam People's Army is the heroic army of a heroic nation; a political force; a fighting force absolutely loyal and trustworthy to the Party, State and people; fulfilling the functions of a fighting army, a working army, a production labor army, worthy of the praise of President Ho Chi Minh: "Our army is loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Every task is completed, every difficulty is overcome, every enemy is defeated".

Entering the period of building and defending the Fatherland, our Army has always successfully completed all tasks assigned by the Party and the State; constantly building a politically strong, disciplined, elite and gradually modernized Army; training discipline, combat readiness, not being passive or surprised in any situation in the process of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam; protecting peace, stability and development in the region and the world, worthy of the name "Heroic Vietnam People's Army".

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), the Southern Women's Museum sends its best wishes to the soldiers who have, are and will continue to dedicate their lives to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, always fulfilling the tasks assigned by the Party and the people.
