The province has provided vocational training to nearly 1,000 people, creating jobs for more than 5,600 workers. It has resolved 317 unemployment benefit applications with a total amount of more than 6 billion VND.
All levels and sectors organized the awarding of 91,662 gifts worth more than 58 billion VND; visited and presented 216 gifts to people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs worth 432 million VND; presented gifts to 62 party members with 60 years of Party membership or more worth 124 million VND; and resolved one-time subsidies and funeral expenses for 145 cases with an amount of more than 1.6 billion VND.
The province organized longevity celebrations for the elderly who turned 90 and 100 years old; took care of Tet for 59 orphans and children in special circumstances at social protection facilities, 50 children treated at hospitals and 400 disadvantaged children in communes and wards.
At the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Children, the province mobilized nearly 695 million VND and awarded 84 scholarships (750,000 VND/scholarship) to poor children and children in especially difficult circumstances.
The province is caring for and nurturing 104 social protection beneficiaries, including 92 orphans, 4 elderly people, and 8 people in need of urgent protection. At the same time, nearly 388 tons of rice have been allocated to localities to help them cope with the early-year famine.
Lai Chau continues to promote the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. Up to now, it has supported the construction and repair of 7,161 houses, reaching 100% of the plan, of which 7,049 houses have been completed and put into use.
