Many examples of advanced farmers not only enrich themselves but also contribute to promoting local economic development. Outstanding among them is Ms. So Thi Loan, born in 1991 - Director of STL Agricultural Company Limited (STL Company), a typical example of the spirit of overcoming difficulties, creativity and dedication to the community.
Starting from the homeland
Born into a farming family, Ms. Loan has been attached to the fields since childhood. In the early years of starting her business, she only had a few acres of land to grow crops and raise livestock on a small scale. However, with a progressive spirit, she constantly learned new farming techniques and participated in technology transfer training courses to improve production efficiency.
In 2018, with the desire to rise up from her homeland, Ms. Loan boldly established STL Company. Although the initial charter capital was only about 1 billion VND - mainly mobilized from family and relatives - she has gradually brought STL Company to steady development with her own diligence, acumen and creativity.
Sharing about her development journey, Ms. So Thi Loan confided: “I started from the difficulties of farmers, so I always keep in mind: Business development must be linked to community benefits. When people have access to technology, reduce labor, and increase productivity, then agriculture will be truly sustainable.”
Providing agricultural services associated with community service
From a small model with 2 tractors and some irrigation equipment, STL Company has now become an enterprise with nearly 40 employees, with an annual revenue of 1.8 - 2 billion VND. The services provided by STL Company not only serve production but also provide practical support to farmers such as: Plowing and tilling services; renting modern irrigation equipment; transporting agricultural products, providing irrigation water in the dry season; providing more than 5,000 seedlings and ornamental flowers each year; and collecting about 200 tons of household waste, contributing to the construction of a green - clean - beautiful new countryside, providing practical support to farmers and the community.
Mr. Le Quang Huy - a resident of Tay Son commune shared: “My family has used STL Company's services for many years, from plowing to automatic irrigation systems. In the past, farming was very hard, each crop season was hard work. Now with modern machinery, the work is easier, productivity is also higher. What I appreciate most is that Ms. Loan not only does business with prestige but also enthusiastically guides the techniques, ready to help people when needed.”
Ms. Ho Thi Up - an employee of STL Company confided: "Before, I only worked in the fields seasonally, sometimes I had work, sometimes I didn't, and my income was unstable. Since I was hired by STL Company, I have had a stable job, and every month I have a regular income to take care of my family and my children's education."
Modern Thinking - Towards the Future
Not only stopping at traditional services, Ms. Loan is actively promoting the application of technology in production, aiming for digital transformation in agriculture. In the orientation to 2030, STL Company will invest in more modern machinery, expand the scale of the nursery to 10,000 seedlings/year and build an online sales channel to export products to the regional market.
What is valuable about this farmer-entrepreneur is her community-based mindset in all her business activities. For her, each service she provides is not only an economic value but also a way to help people, create jobs, increase income and preserve a sustainable living environment for her homeland.
Ms. So Thi Loan instructs on Dúi farming techniques for a resident of Tay Son commune.
“Ms. So Thi Loan is not only a good farmer and businesswoman, but also a person with a sense of responsibility to the community. STL Company's activities such as supporting garbage collection, planting trees, providing water in the dry season, etc. have made an important contribution to building a civilized lifestyle, protecting the environment, and promoting the commune's new rural program. This is a model that needs to be replicated." - Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Tay Son Commune, Le Cham Thu, shared.
Ms. So Thi Loan is a living proof of the image of a new-age farmer: knowing how to think economically, mastering technology, organizing production professionally and having social responsibility. Her shining example not only contributes to the development of Tay Son commune but also inspires many rural youths to boldly start a business and get rich on their homeland.
