Do a good job of encouraging learning, promoting talents and taking care of the elderly

The Hoa Thuan Ward Education Promotion Association has two qualified families: the Le Van Huynh family and the Le Van Nho family, with the tradition of gathering on the occasion of death anniversaries and Lunar New Year. Everyone visits each other about the lives and learning situation of their children to reward and encourage them. On this occasion, family members with stable jobs contributed to the Education Promotion Fund to award scholarships to students in difficult circumstances. In 2023, the Elderly Association coordinated with the Education Promotion Association to mobilize 328 scholarships, worth 234,800,000 VND; 1,174 gifts, worth 167,120,000 VND. During the Education Promotion Month of 2023, the Education Promotion Association received support from 60 benefactors with a total amount of 74,400,000 VND and 1,600 notebooks.

The Ward Elderly Association prepares 50 gifts for the elderly on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Minh, Chairman of the Elderly Association of Hoa Thuan Ward, said: “The Elderly Association of Hoa Thuan Ward has received the direct leadership of the Party Committee and People's Committee of the Ward, the enthusiastic guidance of the Representative Board of the Elderly Association of Cao Lanh City, the close coordination with the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and the Heads of the People's Committees of 5 hamlets, creating favorable conditions for the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the Elderly Association to propagate to members and people to understand the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, local regulations and resolutions of the Association at all levels. In the coordination and cooperation work, the Elderly Association of Hoa Thuan Ward has signed a joint document with the Ward Police on the Action Coordination Program in the movement "All people protect national security and prevent crime; effectively implement the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", the model of the elderly participating in environmental protection, building civilized urban areas. In addition, the Association also coordinates with the Youth Union and the Women's Union of the ward with a model of caring for the elderly at home.

Hoa Thuan Ward currently has 872 elderly people, of which 38 elderly people have registered to participate in economic activities in fields such as: Gardening, tree planting, ornamental flower business, agricultural services, accommodation services and trading. Annual revenue is over 200 million VND/household. Thereby, jobs have been created for a number of local workers. In the production and business process, the elderly always comply with the State's policies and laws, in labor, apply science and technology to improve productivity and product quality, and increase income. It is known that in 2023, the Elderly Association of Hoa Thuan Ward organized a model of caring for poor elderly people, without caregivers, and with difficulty traveling with 3 cases. The whole ward has 3 retired doctors participating in the Elderly Care Club to provide health check-ups, medicine distribution, general examinations, free consultations and gifts for the elderly (rice, milk, sugar).

The Association of the Elderly in Hoa Thuan Ward organized visits to the homes of members who had difficulty walking and could not go to the hospital to examine, consult, dispense medicine and give away powdered milk to treat osteoporosis at home, with a total value of over 10 million VND. Over 50 elderly people with the above circumstances were taken care of.

In 2023, the Elderly Association of Hoa Thuan Ward has successfully completed the assigned tasks: Building a strong Association organization, implementing documents, training, professional development, inspection, supervision, emulation, rewards, mobilizing elderly care, longevity wishes, longevity celebrations... In particular, the fund building work has always been of interest to the Elderly Association of the Ward, currently the total Association fund is 168,622,000 VND, of which the Elderly Care and Promotion Fund currently has 56,587,000 VND. During the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam, the Elderly Association of Hoa Thuan Ward visited and gave gifts to 30 elderly people, with an amount of 5,440,000 VND; implemented a model of elderly care at home for 2 lonely elderly people with an amount of 2,318,000 VND. Organized birthday celebration for 101 elderly people, worth 29,950,000 VND.

In the bustling atmosphere of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, the Elderly Association of Hoa Thuan Ward has taken care of the elderly in difficult circumstances to welcome the New Year. Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Minh said: “In 2024, the Elderly Association of the Ward continues to propagate and organize the successful implementation of Resolution VI of the Vietnam Elderly Association in conjunction with the political tasks of the ward; propagate the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on regimes and policies for the elderly; propagate the Founding Day of the Vietnam Elderly Association (May 10); Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Elderly (June 6), International Day of the Elderly (October 1), and the Month of Action for the Vietnamese Elderly in 2024.
