During recess, on a stone bench in the middle of the school yard, a group of senior students from the Academy of Journalism and Communication read together the article “The Fire-Lighting Memoirs of Hero Le Van Dy” published on September 2, 2025 in the People’s Army Electronic Newspaper. The simple yet heroic memoirs showed the steadfast revolutionary spirit and steadfast ideals of the communist soldier, making the atmosphere quiet.
Student Nguyen Ngoc Vi shared: “I was really moved when reading about the moment when soldiers rushed forward amidst fierce bombs and bullets, fighting for every inch of land so that our army’s “Determination to Fight, Determination to Win” flag could fly on top of the C1 flagpole on May 1, 1954. I understand that, to have peace today, the previous generation had to pay with their youth and blood.”
Sitting next to him, student Pham Khanh Ly reminisced: “In the article, I was impressed by the oath: “I absolutely believe, act with all my heart and soul loyal to the Party, filial to the people. I will complete any task, overcome any difficulty, defeat any enemy...”. That is not just a slogan, but the ideal of life of an entire generation. We often visit the People's Army Electronic Newspaper and its printed publications, Facebook... to read articles like this to understand the soldiers, thereby appreciating peace and loving the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers more.”

A group of students from the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda attentively read the People's Army Weekend Newspaper, absorbing the meaningful values of the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers. |
From stories imbued with the spirit of "Wherever there is an enemy, we will go", the People's Army Newspaper clearly depicts the image of soldiers of all periods with the qualities of resilience, courage and absolute loyalty to the Fatherland. Through each article, the young generation seems to relive the heroic atmosphere of the years of resistance, understanding the value of independence and freedom. That spirit is still continued by the People's Army Newspaper when reflecting the image of soldiers in peacetime who stick to the border, steadfast in the middle of the ocean, or quietly help people rebuild their houses after storms and floods...
Every morning, Truong My Uyen, a student at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, spends time accessing the People's Army Electronic Newspaper to read the news. During the rainy and flood days of October, news about officers and soldiers wading through raging waters to rescue people, clearing roads into villages, and rebuilding houses for people in flooded areas moved Uyen. "I was most impressed with the article "Soldiers help build houses, consider me as relatives, very precious" published on October 8, 2025 in the People's Army Electronic Newspaper. The article helped me clearly feel the sense of responsibility and deep affection for the people of soldiers in peacetime. As a journalism student, these articles also help me learn how to exploit, choose perspectives and tell stories vividly and truthfully," Uyen shared.
Not only following the news, Uyen and many young people also read columns such as: "Beautifying the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers", "National defense for all people", "Reportage - Investigation", "Where soldiers return"... on the People's Army Electronic Newspaper. There, the image of soldiers appears through simple but profound stories: Teachers in green uniforms teaching in the highlands; soldiers diligently doing mass mobilization work in remote areas; or veterans returning to their homeland, taking advantage of their experience, strength and military discipline to start a business, build the economy and contribute to community development.
In the digital age, the People's Army Newspaper is constantly innovating to reach out to young readers. In addition to the traditional print and online versions, the editorial office also creates lively interactive spaces on social networking platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Youtube... to help information spread faster and more intuitively.
To Thi Phuong Hien, a student at the University of Technology, said: “I often follow news and short reports on Facebook and Tiktok of the People's Army Newspaper. The vivid videos and images help me feel more clearly about the life and work of military officers and soldiers. Through that, I feel closer to the image of soldiers and appreciate more the values that the newspaper brings.”
Over the past 75 years, the People's Army Newspaper has vividly portrayed the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers, from the arduous fighting years to the silent contributions in peacetime. Each word and image in the newspaper helps today's young generation fully perceive the ideal value, appreciate peace more, and nurture love and pride for the Fatherland. The flame of faith and inspiration lit on each page of the newspaper will lead the youth to walk firmly, preserve and spread the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers to today's and future generations.
