In order to raise awareness of food saving, educate green lifestyle and contribute to waste reduction and sustainable development, on October 11, the Association for the Support of People with Disabilities, Orphans and Protection of Children's Rights of Thanh Hoa province in collaboration with the Charity and Social Committee - Caritas Thanh Hoa, Vietnam Food Bank Network, Green Hero project and Hoat Giang commune government organized a response to the Week against Food Waste and World Food Day (October 16) at Ha Trung High School (Thanh Hoa).

With the message “Small actions - Big changes”, the program calls on each individual, especially students, to start with simple actions such as eating just enough, not wasting food, classifying trash and reusing resources, and joining hands to build a Vietnam without food waste.
The event attracted more than 1,700 students to participate in interactive activities, learning about food waste prevention, waste classification and resource recycling. Through games, practical instructions and visual models, students experienced the process of classifying, collecting and processing organic and inorganic waste, thereby raising awareness and forming green and economical living habits.

Within the framework of the program, the units presented garbage sorting bins, the “House of Garbage” model and 20 “Food Hero Scholarship” scholarships to disadvantaged students of Ha Trung High School to encourage their learning spirit and encourage them to become “green heroes” in the community.
The organizing committee also mobilized more than 1 ton of essential foods including rice, instant noodles, vermicelli and nutritional products to support students and disadvantaged households currently affected by natural disasters in the area.

“We want every student to become a “food hero”, to appreciate every meal and together reduce waste. When students change, the whole community will change. That is how we build a sustainable green future, starting from school,” said Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khoi, Chairman of the Vietnam Food Bank Network.
Priest Nguyen Van Thuong, Director of Caritas Thanh Hoa, commented that this activity is a harmonious combination of education, environmental protection and humanitarian spirit, contributing to spreading green lifestyle to the young generation.

Appreciating the significance of the program, Ms. Trinh Thi Tiep, Vice President of the Thanh Hoa Province Children's Rights Protection Association, emphasized that the program not only raises environmental awareness but also shows practical concern for children in difficult circumstances. Through meaningful scholarships, children are motivated to study and form a responsible lifestyle towards the community.
