In the past, books were the greatest way for people to access information, culture and knowledge. Nowadays, with the strong explosion of information technology and social networks, reading culture is at risk of fading away. In response to this reality, the Reading Culture Ambassador contest was organized to help arouse passion, promote reading movement among the young generation, encourage sharing, spread the love of reading, develop reading culture in schools, communities and build a learning society.
The provincial library is equipped with many children's books, meeting children's needs for learning and reading.
The 2024 Hoa Binh Provincial Reading Culture Ambassador Contest was widely launched to all students at all levels in the province from April 2024 and achieved many important results. At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee received 13,727 entries from students from 124 units and schools in the province. This year's contest recorded a higher number of entries and participating units and schools than previous years. Accordingly, in 2021, there were 6,279 entries from 57 units and schools participating in the preliminary round; in 2022, more than 7,000 entries were received in the preliminary round from 67 units and schools; in 2023, there were a total of 13,168 entries (preliminary round) from 81 schools. Many schools have an outstanding number of participating students, typically: Luong Son High School has 1,096 participants, Cu Chinh Lan High School has 860 participants, Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted has 857 participants, Le Quy Don Secondary School has 662 participants... Not only that, the quality of the entries is constantly improving.
According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, in the 2024 Hoa Binh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest, the entries have a serious and elaborate investment in content and rich form, from choosing good books to inspire to writing skills and creativity of the contestants. Many students put a lot of effort into their entries, their entries are tightly structured, clear, scientific , with a bright writing style and highlight values, deep feelings, and lessons that are reasonably related to themselves. The contest has received the attention of Party committees at all levels, local authorities, people and the active participation of students in the province. At the end of the preliminary round of this year's contest, the Organizing Committee selected 6 high-prize entries to participate in the final round organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest of Hoa Binh Province, the Organizing Committee awarded 2 collective prizes, 19 individual prizes and 9 thematic prizes. Outstandingly winning the special prize of the contest, Bach Yen Nhi, a 12H student at Cu Chinh Lan High School (Luong Son) shared: "I really like reading books, so I am one of the first members to develop ideas, initiate and propose the school to establish a book club. Reading books helps me improve my knowledge and understanding. In many research competitions launched by the school, including the Reading Culture Ambassador contest, I always enthusiastically participate. I hope the contest will continue to be held annually to encourage the spirit of learning and creativity for students, promote the reading movement to spread strongly in the community, and bring the love of books to everyone...".
Sharing about her plans after the contest, Le Nguyen Linh Nhi, class 6B, Da Bac District Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, confided: "The Reading Culture Ambassador Contest is a useful and interesting intellectual playground for students who have a passion for books, spreading reading culture and love of books to everyone. After the contest, I will actively promote to my friends and relatives the benefits of reading. It may be just a small thing, but I hope to contribute to spreading love and passion for books, helping everyone understand that reading is a great way to improve knowledge and understanding and become an indispensable activity in spiritual life."
The 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest of Hoa Binh Province not only creates a healthy and useful playground for students at all levels but also has practical significance, spreading widely, arousing a passion for reading in all classes of people. Thereby promoting the reading movement among the young generation, forming reading habits and skills for students, contributing to the development of reading culture in schools and communities. Through the contest, it shows that the current young generation is still passionate and not indifferent to reading culture. Hopefully, the contest will continue to promote its values, becoming a practical and meaningful playground for students in the province.
