In the past, books were the greatest avenue for people to access information, culture, and knowledge. Today, with the explosive growth of information technology and social media, reading culture faces the risk of decline. In light of this reality, the Reading Culture Ambassador competition is organized to help rekindle passion, promote reading among young people, encourage the sharing and spreading of a love of reading, develop reading culture in schools and communities, and build a learning society.
The provincial library is equipped with many children's books, meeting the needs of children for learning and reading.
The 2024 Hoa Binh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest was widely launched to all students at all levels in the province from April 2024 and achieved many important results. At the end of the contest, the organizing committee received 13,727 entries from students from 124 schools and educational institutions in the province. This year's contest saw a higher number of entries and participating schools compared to previous years. Specifically, in 2021, there were 6,279 entries from 57 schools and educational institutions in the preliminary round; in 2022, there were over 7,000 entries from 67 schools and educational institutions in the preliminary round; and in 2023, there were a total of 13,168 entries (preliminary round) from 81 schools. Many schools had a high number of participating students, such as: Luong Son High School with 1,096 participants, Cu Chinh Lan High School with 860 participants, Hoang Van Thu Specialized High School with 857 participants, Le Quy Don Junior High School with 662 participants... Moreover, the quality of the entries has continuously improved.
According to the organizers, the entries in the 2024 Hoa Binh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest showed serious and meticulous investment in content and diverse forms, from the selection of inspiring books to the writing skills and creativity of the contestants. Many students dedicated considerable effort, with well-structured, clear, and scientific entries, lucid writing style, and highlighting profound values, feelings, and lessons relevant to their own lives. The contest received attention from Party committees, local authorities, the people, and active participation from students throughout the province. At the end of this year's preliminary round, the organizers selected six winning entries to participate in the final round organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At the closing ceremony and awards presentation of the 2024 Hoa Binh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest, the organizing committee awarded 2 team prizes, 19 individual prizes, and 9 thematic prizes. Winning the special prize, Bach Yen Nhi, a 12th-grade student from Cu Chinh Lan High School (Luong Son), shared: "I really enjoy reading, so I was one of the first members to develop the idea and propose that the school establish a book club. Reading helps me improve my knowledge and gain more understanding. I always enthusiastically participate in many competitions launched by the school, including the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest. I hope the contest will continue to be held annually to encourage the spirit of learning and creativity among students, promote the reading movement to spread strongly in the community, and bring the love of books to everyone..."
Sharing her plans after the competition, Le Nguyen Linh Nhi, a 6th-grade student from the Da Bac District Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, confided: "The Reading Culture Ambassador competition is a beneficial and interesting intellectual playground for students who are passionate about books, spreading reading culture and love of books to everyone. After the competition, I will actively promote the benefits of reading to my friends and family. It may be a small thing, but I hope to contribute to spreading the love and passion for books, helping people understand that reading is a wonderful way to cultivate knowledge and understanding, and that it has become an indispensable activity in their spiritual lives."
The 2024 Hoa Binh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest not only creates a healthy and beneficial playground for students of all levels but also has practical significance, spreading widely and igniting a passion for reading among all segments of the population. This promotes the reading movement among young people, forming reading habits and skills for students, contributing to the development of reading culture in schools and communities. The contest shows that today's young generation remains passionate about and not indifferent to reading culture. We hope the contest will continue to promote its values and become a practical and meaningful playground for students in the province.
