Night-time economic activities are the development direction of many provinces and localities. However, instead of being bars and entertainment areas, cultural activities are now becoming favorite destinations for people when the sun sets.

Most recently, at the walking street around Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi, the program "Lam Dong Cultural Day in Hanoi 2025" opened, starting a series of events to introduce and promote the cultural image, people and tourism and economic development potential of Lam Dong province to the people of the capital and international friends. During the three days of organization, the program had many rich activities including: Connection forum, OCOP product display area, exhibition of Lam Dong - Da Lat province development planning, tea space, art performances and booths introducing local products. Booths introducing typical products such as B'Lao tea, Cau Dat coffee, Da Lat wine... attracted visitors of all ages to visit and explore. Thanks to the cultural festival, the people of the capital were able to live in a space imbued with the essence of Lam Dong and poetic Da Lat.

In Cao Bang , there is Kim Dong walking street, where visitors can watch Then singing performances, Tinh lute of the Tay, Nung people or folk dances of the Dao, Mong people are vividly reproduced, attracting a large number of viewers. Visitors can directly admire and enjoy traditional products and handicrafts. Not only that, typical dishes such as chestnuts, sticky rice with canarium or roasted pork with mac mat leaves, ... contribute to the attractiveness of the cultural space. Each corner of the walking street becomes a miniature cultural house, containing stories about the life, customs and souls of the people.

Not only the night walking streets but also historical relics are becoming vibrant at night. For example, Hoa Lo Prison, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam are becoming cultural destinations on weekend evenings for people with a series of attractive activities such as sightseeing, solving puzzles, watching art performances here,... In Ho Chi Minh City, a double-decker bus product has been launched with the theme "Sleepless in Saigon", with a tour of the city from 11pm to 7am. The bus runs through 30 routes and nearly 20 tourist attractions, monuments, architecture, culinary neighborhoods and bustling night-time centers of the city such as Bui Vien Street, Nguyen Hue Street, Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Cathedral, etc.

Applying technology to renew night cultural activities

To attract people to participate in cultural activities in the evening, provinces and cities are making efforts to apply technology to create new and attractive images. Recently, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, at the Da Nang Museum, the Department of Culture and Sports opened the 3D mapping film program "The Story of Da Nang".

With the light of mapping technology, folk tales, legends and some typical historical events associated with the birth, development and rise to new heights of the city, at the same time depict the soul and spirit of Da Nang people. Along with the stories told, the film also has images and scenes of Hoang Sa archipelago, the legend of Lord Nguyen Hoang, the oath to die for the Fatherland, the battle of Hai Van pass... It is known that this is also the first time in Southeast Asia that the most advanced PT-RQ 50K projection system, equivalent to the projection system at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and the Tokyo Night & Light program in 2024, has been put into use.

Also in April, at the outdoor stage in front of the headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the opening program of a series of cultural, sports and technology activities with the theme "Colors of Uncle Ho's City" took place. This is a large festival in response to the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) with many activities held at locations such as in front of the headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the walking area of ​​Nguyen Hue Street. The "Colors of Uncle Ho's City" Festival in 2025 took place over many days with a variety of rich events such as 3D Mapping performances, combining light - sound - symphony - choir, outdoor music and dance performances, flower lantern boats, amateur music, water sports, along with drone performances combined with artistic fireworks.

The application of light mapping technology and unmanned drones is becoming a highlight for major events and programs held in the evening. In addition to the successes achieved, provinces and cities need to apply new technologies such as artificial intelligence, automatic robots, virtual reality, etc. to continue to "breathe life" into cultural and historical stories, creating highlights to attract tourists.
