Provincial People's Committee leaders had a dialogue with businesses with import-export activities at Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone.

The conference was chaired by comrades: Pham Anh Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board; Nguyen Nhu Trinh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board.

Attending the conference were representatives of leaders of departments, branches, sectors and units of the province; leaders of border communes of Ia Dom and Ia Nan; representatives of business associations, industry associations, enterprises with trade, import-export activities, investors of warehouse, logistics and processing factory projects in the Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang emphasized: Today, the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee organized a meeting and dialogue between the Provincial Leaders and enterprises with import-export activities at the Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone. This is an important event, demonstrating the spirit of companionship, sharing and mutual development between the provincial government and import-export enterprises at the Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone, especially in the context that the province has just reorganized the local government at the provincial level and is actively implementing strategic breakthroughs in the new period.

With the spirit of always accompanying businesses, creating the most favorable conditions to promote investment, production and business activities with the motto of 5 together: "Listen together, discuss together, implement together, share results together, and overcome difficulties together". Today's conference is an opportunity for the Provincial People's Committee leaders to listen, share, and promptly resolve the difficulties and obstacles that import-export enterprises are facing; at the same time, it is also an opportunity for us to review our roles, responsibilities, and solutions to help import-export enterprises develop further in the coming time.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee believes that, with a spirit of responsibility, openness and cooperation, today's conference will be a practical forum for the government and businesses to look back and discuss development solutions, while affirming the determination of the government to create - businesses to develop - people to prosper.

According to the report at the conference, currently, the Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone has attracted 37 investment projects with a total registered investment capital of 643.9 billion VND, the realized investment capital is estimated at 319.1 billion VND, reaching 49.6% of the total registered investment capital. The total import-export turnover at Le Thanh International Border Gate as of August 31, 2025 reached 155 million USD. Of which, the import turnover reached 92 million USD; the export turnover reached 63 million USD. Passengers entering and exiting through the border gate are mainly workers at projects in Cambodia. Means of transport entering and exiting through Le Thanh International Border Gate are mainly transporting import-export goods and means of transporting passengers entering and exiting. Specifically, by August 31, 2025, the number of vehicles entering and exiting reached 15,829, an increase of 31.5% over the same period in 2024; The number of passengers entering and exiting the country reached 99,980, an increase of 9.4% over the same period in 2024.

At the conference, representatives of many businesses expressed the practical difficulties they are facing in the operation process, especially related to regulations on cross-border transport. One of the outstanding issues is that currently, Vietnamese vehicles wishing to enter Cambodian territory need a CLV intermodal transport license or a bilateral transport license, while the license quota has run out, causing serious obstacles to the logistics chain and freight transport. Although the Vietnam Road Administration has repeatedly proposed to increase the quota with Cambodia, no agreement has been reached yet. Businesses proposed that the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee support working with the Ratanakiri Provincial Government of Cambodia to allow vehicles from the two countries to cross during the day according to the instructions in Decree 112/2014/ND-CP.

In addition, some businesses have reported shortcomings in the lack of synchronization of border gate operating hours between the two sides. While Vietnam has extended the working hours at Le Thanh international border gate from 7:00 to 20:00 every day, Oyadav border gate (Cambodia side) still only operates until 17:30, causing congestion and delays in immigration and exit activities, especially at the end of the day. This directly affects logistics costs and business flexibility.

The recommendations also mentioned shortcomings in customs procedures, such as the requirement to physically inspect goods for fresh fruits in transit, which makes the goods vulnerable to damage due to temperature fluctuations and environmental impacts. Enterprises proposed that inspections should only be carried out randomly or when there are signs of suspected violations to ensure the quality of goods.

Some other issues were also mentioned by businesses such as difficulties in traffic for right-hand drive vehicles from Cambodia, the desire to be supported in gathering goods in designated areas without encountering administrative barriers or traffic safety...

At the conference, representatives of relevant departments and branches also directly received and answered many recommendations from businesses. Issues under their authority were guided and clarified right at the conference, focusing on intermodal transport procedures, border gate operating hours, customs inspection procedures and vehicle circulation conditions. For recommendations beyond their authority, the provincial leaders committed to synthesizing, reporting to central agencies and coordinating with the Cambodian side to resolve them in the coming time.

Concluding the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan emphasized and affirmed the motto of accompanying businesses: The province always stands side by side with the business community, creating the most favorable conditions to promote investment, production and business activities, with the motto "5 together": Listening together, discussing together, implementing together, sharing results together, and overcoming difficulties together. Especially innovating management methods, shifting from "control" thinking to "service and innovation", taking people and businesses as the center, as "customers" of administrative agencies.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan said that the province aims to develop border trade, especially the connection between Le Thanh International Border Gate and the Airport and Seaport in the East of Gia Lai, striving to achieve an import-export turnover of 2-3 billion USD through Le Thanh International Border Gate by 2030. The province is committed to the principle of not criminalizing economic and civil relations and activities, and prioritizing administrative reforms to create favorable conditions for businesses.

Focus on orienting the development of Le Thanh International Border Gate, including planning Le Thanh International Border Gate in the direction of maximum expectations.

On the business side, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on businesses to improve production capacity, proactively research, expand investment, and develop industries in line with the province's potential, advantages, and development orientation. At the same time, identify the potential, advantages, and investment orientation of businesses in the Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone. Actively propose policies on tax and finance, recommend many initiatives, report difficulties and solutions to departments, branches, sectors, and authorities at all levels; coordinate with the government to perfect mechanisms and policies, and create momentum for socio-economic development. Continue to accompany the province in planning and rebuilding the Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone in the coming period. At the same time, work with the province to take care of the lives of people in border areas on both sides of the border gate, contributing to maintaining security and order, promoting sustainable socio-economic development./.
