The 2024 National Youth Weightlifting Championship will take place from April 14 to April 21 in Lang Son province, organized by the Vietnam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lang Son province.
The tournament attracted more than 230 athletes from 31 delegations from provinces, cities and sectors across the country. The athletes competed in 22 events in youth weight categories, with the snatch and clean and jerk categories.
Participating in the tournament, Lao Cai province has 6 athletes. These are young athletes who are participating in training at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center.
At the end of the events, athlete Hoang Thi Mai Xuan won 3 Gold medals in the women's 55 kg category; athlete La Viet Bach excellently won 2 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal in the men's over 73 kg category. Notably, the Lao Cai delegation was ranked 5th out of 31 delegations participating in the 2024 National Youth Weightlifting Championship.
It is known that at the 2023 National Youth Weightlifting Championship, athlete La Viet Bach won 3 Gold medals in the men's over 73 kg category, and Hoang Thi Mai Xuan won 2 Bronze medals in the women's 49 kg category.
