Workers receiving one-time social insurance benefits decreased, unemployment insurance benefits increased

(Dan Tri) - While the number of workers receiving unemployment insurance in the first 10 months of the year increased compared to the same period last year, the number of unemployed workers receiving one-time social insurance tended to decrease.

According to Vietnam Social Security, as of November 4, there were more than 19.3 million people participating in social insurance nationwide, of which more than 17.2 million people participated in compulsory insurance and more than 2 million people participated in voluntary social insurance.

Besides, the number of people participating in unemployment insurance is more than 15.5 million people, an increase of 9.2% over the same period in 2023.

In the first 10 months of the year, nearly 1.1 million people nationwide received one-time social insurance, a decrease of 7,599 people compared to the same period in 2023.

Vietnam Social Security said that the implementation of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance policies has improved in a context of mixed advantages, difficulties, and challenges.

The coverage of social insurance, especially voluntary social insurance, has increased, along with the number of people receiving one-time social insurance benefits decreasing. According to this agency, this is due to the increasingly improved legal system, increasing the rights of participants, most recently the National Assembly passed the amended Law on Social Insurance.

Over the past time, Vietnam Social Security has always been proactive and actively coordinated in proposing, developing and amending important bills and documents related to the regime, policies and management of social insurance and health insurance funds.

At the same time, this agency also participates in developing and completing draft Decrees and Circulars, especially contents related to the Law on Social Insurance 2024, to specify and implement with the goal of ensuring the rights of employees and promoting the sustainable development of the social security system.
