Specifically, in the early morning of May 16, the fishing boat Lupeng Yuanyu 028 - owned by Penglai Jinglu Fishery Company based in Shandong province - capsized in the Indian Ocean.
There were a total of 39 people on board, including 17 Chinese sailors, 17 Indonesians, and five Filipinos, and all are missing.
According to CCTV , Chinese President Xi Jinping has directed all efforts to search and rescue, but so far, "relevant forces have not found the missing people."
In the statement, Xi Jinping also called for increased early warning of safety risks to offshore fishing activities.
China's maritime search and rescue center has notified relevant countries about the accident.
