Marriage is an important milestone in a person’s life, so any couple before entering married life wants their wedding to be held in a luxurious and joyful manner. Besides holding a traditional wedding ceremony, nowadays some young people choose to have their wedding ceremony with a very sacred ceremony at the Buddhist gate, called the “Hang Thuan” ceremony.

The “Hang Thuan” ceremony is a ceremony similar to a normal wedding, but held at a temple. Here, the bride and groom are also announced by a monk representative, the wedding ceremony, the blessing ceremony, praying for happiness for the couple and exchanging wedding rings.

Preparing for family life, the young couple LTTT and NVT from Quang Tri , residing in Nghia Thanh Ward (Gia Nghia City) decided to return to their hometown to hold a wedding ceremony at the pagoda. On the wedding day, the bride and groom, along with their families and friends, dressed in formal attire, entered and stood side by side along the main path of the Tam Bao temple.

The wedding ceremony held at the temple is conducted as a peace-praying ceremony with many different names such as the peace-praying ceremony for the wedding ceremony; the wedding ceremony ceremony; the wedding memorial ceremony... The main part of the "Hang Thuan" ceremony is the short sermon of the officiant before giving rings to the bride and groom, advising the young couple to live according to the Dharma and morality in life...

After that, the bride and groom recite the five vows and follow them to keep their family life peaceful and happy. After each vow, the temple bell rings as a witness to the promises of the young couple.

A wedding at a pagoda has many rituals but is very cozy and economical. Mr. NVT said: "Going to the pagoda to have a wedding ceremony is a good thing, it makes me feel more responsible for my family and my wife". Ms. LTTT said: "Holding the wedding at the pagoda and receiving the blessings of Buddhist monks and nuns, I feel very happy, hoping that my married life in the future will be completely happy. Especially, I got to hear meaningful teachings about the ethics of husband and wife and the advice on the word "patience" to know how to be patient and live together for life".

Under the witness of Buddha and monks, the bride and groom will feel the importance and sacredness of the wedding ceremony.

“Hang Thuan” means that husband and wife are always in harmony, of one mind, living with respect, fulfilling the duties of husband, wife, and child, always aiming for the path of self-cultivation, enlightenment, and goodness. Especially, under the witness of Buddha and monks, the bride and groom will feel the importance and sacredness of the wedding ceremony. These principles will be a solid foundation before the couple begins their married life.
