The hobby of flying kites and the kite festival of Ba Duong Noi village have existed for a long time.

According to traditional customs, the Ba Duong Noi village kite flying competition is held on the full moon day of the third lunar month every year. After a long period of interruption due to war, since 1989, the Ba Duong Noi kite festival has been restored and maintained according to traditional rituals.

The ceremony includes the Dai Tich ceremony, the incense offering ceremony, the drum beating ceremony, the gong beating ceremony, etc. The most special part of the festival is the kite flying competition. In the past, the competition only had local kite owners, but recently, kite clubs from many provinces and cities across the country have participated.

The village rules in Ba Duong Noi clearly stipulate that the kite must have a minimum wingspan of 2.2m, and must be fitted with at least 3 flutes. The winning kite is the one that flies the highest and remains the most still. The kites of the children are smaller, do not require flutes, but are all over 1m in size and are designed in a diamond shape.

The flute kites of Ba Duong Noi village have participated in many large kite festivals such as: 1000th anniversary kite festival in Thang Long - Hanoi ; Hue Festival kite festival, Vung Tau international kite festival; international kite festivals in Thailand, China, Malaysia, France...

The Ba Duong Noi village kite flying festival has also been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by the Vietnam Folk Arts Association since 2004.
