At the reception, General Secretary To Lam thanked Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo for visiting Vietnam, always accompanying and devoting much enthusiasm to the work of preserving and promoting heritage in Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam highlighted UNESCO's role as the "Intellectual Home of Humanity", promoting multilateralism, maintaining peace, security and promoting sustainable development in the world ; thanked UNESCO for its support and cooperation for Vietnam over the past 50 years in post-war recovery as well as the current national construction and development.

72 UNESCO titles in all provinces and cities of Vietnam, including 8 world cultural and natural heritages, are highly regarded, becoming a significant resource for sustainable socio-economic development of localities, improving people's livelihoods, preserving and promoting cultural values, national heritage, contributing to human civilization.

General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam has always been an active, trustworthy and supportive partner of UNESCO, continuing to make effective contributions as a member of key executive bodies, including the World Heritage Committee.

General Secretary To Lam asked UNESCO, the World Heritage Center, and especially Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo, to continue to accompany and support Vietnam in spreading Vietnamese cultural values ​​to the world, preserving and promoting world heritages in Vietnam.

In particular, it is proposed to continue to support and advise so that the dossier to restore Kinh Thien Palace and the main space of Kinh Thien Palace of the world heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel can be approved by UNESCO as soon as possible. Returning the thousands-year-old Hoang Dao axis and rebuilding Kinh Thien Palace, where people across the country can perform traditional rituals, reenact the history of the nation, arouse the strength of thousands of years of convergence and unite the community in the new era of the nation - is an important matter for the country of Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam also requested the World Heritage Center to support the development of a dossier to nominate the Co Loa Relic Site as a world heritage site; proposed to support the world heritage listing of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Relics and Landscape Complex at the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee (Paris, July 2025).

This is the ancestral land of the Truc Lam Zen sect founded by the Buddhist Emperor Tran Nhan Tong, demonstrating the great ideology of national unity, harmony between beliefs and religions, promoting the value of tolerance and love of peace in the human mind, still valid today; having special importance in terms of spiritual, cultural and historical values ​​for the Vietnamese people and the world.

Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo expressed his honor to pay his respects to General Secretary To Lam and was moved to return to Vietnam on the occasion of the 135th birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh - National Liberation Hero, Outstanding Cultural Man.

According to Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo, President Ho Chi Minh's ideology and legacy are a vivid embodiment of the aspiration for peace, dialogue and the spread of universal cultural values ​​- fundamental ideals that UNESCO constantly cultivates and pursues.

Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo conveyed the regards and congratulations of the UNESCO Director General to General Secretary To Lam; highly appreciated the results of General Secretary To Lam's historic visit to UNESCO headquarters in October 2024; contributing to enhancing the partnership, demonstrating strategic trust and common vision of both sides.

Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo emphasized that Vietnam is an important, reliable, active strategic partner, making effective and substantial contributions to UNESCO cooperation; a model of cooperation between a member country and the organization; and a typical example in preserving and promoting heritage values. Vietnam has many initiatives and cooperation models in managing, preserving and promoting world heritage values ​​that need to be widely shared with other member countries.

Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo expressed his impression of Vietnam's dynamic development, as well as the vision and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam through major strategies and policies that Vietnam has implemented recently, associated with institutional reform, promoting education, culture, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as key driving forces for the country's development. This is a solid foundation for Vietnam to continue to make responsible contributions to global efforts in preserving and spreading human cultural values.

Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo highly appreciated Vietnam's long history and thousands of years of cultural depth, and shared the vision and strategic orientations that General Secretary To Lam had set forth, especially in promoting the role of culture and heritage for sustainable socio-economic development; at the same time, he thanked and affirmed his support for General Secretary To Lam's opinions, and affirmed that he would accompany, support and provide UNESCO with professional advice for Vietnam in the work of preserving and promoting world heritages.

Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo said that, as Director of the World Heritage Center, he will make every effort to work with Vietnam to manage, preserve and promote 8 world heritage sites of Vietnam, especially the restoration of Kinh Thien Palace and the main space of Kinh Thien Palace of the world heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel; and the registration of new world heritage sites in the near future such as the Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac; Co Loa Relic Site...
