The Thak Con Festival, also known as the Coconut Offering Festival, has been organized and maintained by the Khmer community in An Trach Hamlet, An Hiep Commune, Chau Thanh District for many years. The festival takes place over 3 days and 3 nights, starting from Pinh-bôr Khe-cheth to 2 Roch Khe-cheth (according to the Khmer calendar), which is the 15th, 16th and 17th of the third lunar month every year. This is an occasion for people to remember and express gratitude to the gods and ancestors who have blessed them with bountiful harvests, and to pray for favorable weather and a peaceful life.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Son Po - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Soc Trang emphasized: "The recognition of the Thak Con Festival as a national intangible cultural heritage is not only an honor for Chau Thanh district but also a common pride of the Khmer people in Soc Trang province. To date, Soc Trang has had 10 heritages honored at the national level. This is an important basis for the locality to continue to pay attention, invest, preserve and promote the value of heritage, closely linked with tourism development, creating livelihoods for the community".

The fact that the Thak Con Festival was honored in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List is a worthy recognition of the great spiritual values that the Khmer community has preserved and passed down through many generations. This is also a motivation for all levels, sectors, especially local authorities and communities to continue to join hands to protect and promote the value of heritage, contributing to enriching the cultural treasure of the Vietnamese people.
