At the conference, delegates watched a photo report on the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press and the results of the writing contest on advanced models, good people, good deeds in 2025; listened to Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Truong Viet Dung inform about the socio-economic situation of the capital in the first 6 months of 2025.
Accordingly, in the first 6 months of the year, Hanoi resolutely implemented the Central Government's direction, the socio-economy continued to develop, the GRDP growth in the first quarter was quite high, creating the premise to complete the target of 8% growth or more in 2025.
Latest updated data as of June 15, 2025, the total state budget revenue in the city is 372.6 trillion VND, reaching 73.7% of the annual estimate.
Economic sectors developed stably, total retail sales of goods and consumer services were estimated at over VND460,000 billion; tourism attracted nearly 4 million arrivals, international visitors reached over 2.8 million arrivals; industry is estimated to increase by 5.8%.
“With the above results and development trends, by 2025, the city can completely achieve the growth target of 8%, with the GRDP scale in 2025 reaching about 63.2 billion USD (in 2024 reaching about 58.6 billion USD)”, said the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee.

Former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi shared that he himself is both a person who regularly contacts the press, especially during his 10 years as Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and a journalist, from his first articles in 1971 to his most recent article on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
According to comrade Pham Quang Nghi, Hanoi is a major center of journalism, so this is both an advantage and a challenge. City leaders should pay more attention, be closer and more sympathetic to the press, and provide more complete and timely information to the press.
The former Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee also hopes that the press will contribute more effectively and share more with Hanoi, especially in the context that Hanoi always has to deal with a huge amount of work, under great pressure as the capital.
Journalist Ho Quang Loi, former member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, former Head of the Propaganda Department of the Hanoi Party Committee, former Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, former Editor-in-Chief of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper, emotionally recalled the time when Uncle Ho gave birth to the Vietnamese press and affirmed that over the past 100 years, the revolutionary press has made many contributions to the cause of building and developing the country.
Journalist Ho Quang Loi said that every time he returns to Hanoi, he feels a sense of familiarity, closeness, and warmth, like coming home; through contact with the city’s leaders, he always feels the trust and desire for the press to accompany the capital. This is an extremely valuable thing.
“As a journalist, my soul is enriched by enjoying Hanoi's biosphere and serving Hanoi. More than a blessing, it is also a happiness,” journalist Ho Quang Loi shared.
Editor-in-Chief of the Government Electronic Information Portal Nguyen Hong Sam expressed his joy that the city has achieved many outstanding socio-economic achievements in recent times. Hanoi is also a locality that always pays special attention to the press.
Emphasizing that in the coming time, Hanoi will implement a two-level local government, the Editor-in-Chief of the Government Electronic Information Portal suggested that the city continue to promote information and communication to the people through the press system. In particular, authorities at all levels need to proactively provide information so that press agencies can provide the most accurate and standard information to readers.
Affirming the pioneering role, entering a new era with the whole country
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai affirmed that the achievements of the Capital in recent times were thanks to the efforts of the entire political system and the people of the Capital, including the important contributions of the central and city press agencies.
According to the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, the team of reporters and journalists of the Central and Hanoi press agencies over the years have clearly demonstrated their social responsibility and professional mission, always closely following and promptly and comprehensively informing the leadership, direction and administration of the city; actively introducing and promoting the image of the Capital "Discipline, responsibility, action, creativity, development"; at the same time promptly reflecting important and comprehensive results in all fields of the city.
Comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai acknowledged, highly appreciated and sincerely thanked the contributions of generations of journalists, the Central and City press agencies that have had many outstanding achievements, always cared, shared, had special affection and actively contributed to the cause of building and developing the Capital, to the development process of Vietnam's revolutionary press.
Emphasizing the context, situation and revolutionary tasks in the coming time, the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee requested that the Central and City press agencies continue to promote their role as important channels in receiving comments and suggestions, mobilizing the intelligence, democratic spirit and responsibility of cadres, party members and people to contribute comments on documents submitted to the 18th Congress of the City Party Committee, especially on major issues and key tasks of the Capital so that the initiatives, wishes, aspirations and contributions of the people become the goals of the City Party Committee in the coming term, becoming an important resource for Hanoi's development.
To effectively carry out information and propaganda work to effectively serve the political tasks of the capital and the country, comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai requested the central and Hanoi press agencies, along with the team of journalists, reporters and editors, to continue to promote the fine traditions of revolutionary journalism, further innovate the content and methods of propaganda, truly promote the role of a media agency, a bridge, and orient information and public opinion to bring the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, especially the policies and guidelines of Hanoi city to cadres, party members, armed forces and people of all walks of life in the capital and the whole country.
“Each journalist and reporter, through their sharp pen, quick thinking, steadfast political will, pure heart, social responsibility and civic duty, continues to foster the will and aspiration to contribute of Hanoians who are “elegant, civilized, friendly, humane, creative and integrated”...”, said the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
He suggested that Hanoi press agencies further promote their internal strength, innovate in thinking, and make breakthroughs in action in the digital transformation of press activities towards modern “multi-platform” and “multimedia” press. The process of implementing digital transformation is not only a technical issue, but also a transformation of habits, thoughts, ways of doing things, and specific actions; it is necessary to be determined, synchronous, and unified, so that press activities are more modern and effective.
The Secretary of the City Party Committee believes that, promoting the glorious 100-year tradition of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, the team of journalists today will continue the tradition of previous generations, contributing to building a "civilized - cultured - modern" Capital, worthy of the trust and love of the people of the whole country, worthy of the stature and position of "the heart of the whole country"; continue to affirm the pioneering role, leading the way, with the whole country entering a new era - the era of development, prosperity and strength of the Vietnamese people.
Recognizing the outstanding achievements of collectives and individuals in the capital's press activities in the period of 2020-2025, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, on June 19, 2025, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee issued a decision to award Certificates of Merit to 20 collectives and 30 individuals.
At the conference, city leaders awarded prizes to authors whose works and articles won the Writing Contest on advanced models, good people, good deeds in 2025.
