Provincial Red Cross Society promotes core role in humanitarian work

STO - Focusing on caring for and supporting people in difficult circumstances, the disadvantaged, and poor patients so that they can rise up and stabilize their lives. These are the priorities in humanitarian and charitable activities that the Red Cross at all levels in Soc Trang province have carried out in recent times. Thereby, affirming the core role and being a bridge to spread humanitarian activities in the community.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the provincial associations at all levels effectively implemented programs, movements, and humanitarian activities launched and organized by the Central Association. The quality of the programs and movements was maintained and innovated. Many humanitarian activities of a developmental nature were maintained and widely replicated, with the total value of activities in the first 6 months of the year estimated at over 47 billion VND. Typically, in the "Humanitarian Tet" movement in the spring of At Ty 2025, the associations at all levels mobilized and donated over 36,400 gifts, with a total value of 15.7 billion VND, exceeding 108% of the target assigned by the Central Association. The campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address" has provided regular support to over 2,500 individuals, focusing on those in difficult circumstances, poor disabled people, Agent Orange victims, lonely elderly people, orphans, etc.

Particularly for Humanitarian Month 2025, with a series of activities under the theme "Humanitarian Journey - Spreading Love", Red Cross associations at all levels have closely coordinated with agencies, units and localities to organize Humanitarian Month activities such as: donating Red Cross houses, organizing medical examination and treatment, providing free medicine, giving scholarships and bicycles to students in difficult circumstances, visiting and supporting poor patients... Through activities during Humanitarian Month, associations at all levels in the province have mobilized nearly 8 billion VND to care for over 7,000 people in difficult circumstances and 14 humanitarian projects.

Regarding humanitarian medical examination and treatment activities, the association at all levels continues to proactively and actively coordinate with the health sector, other organizations and sponsors to organize many humanitarian medical examination and treatment activities for people in difficult circumstances. Specifically, 15 outpatient examinations have been organized, providing health care for more than 7,800 people in remote and disadvantaged areas. Medical examination and treatment activities not only include clinical examinations but also focus on promoting the effectiveness of traditional medicine groups and stations in taking care of people's health. In addition, disaster prevention and response activities are an important task and priority area of ​​the association. Many road and river emergency stations have been established, with the main force being Red Cross youth volunteers as the core, ready to support in emergency situations, contributing to building a safer community with faster adaptation and recovery.

To help people in difficult circumstances reduce their worries about illness and economic burden, since the beginning of the year, the model of rice - porridge - hot water distribution teams at medical examination and treatment facilities, together with the "Support to School" club, has provided tens of thousands of free rice, porridge and hot water to poor patients. In particular, the "Giving Hope" club under the Provincial Red Cross Society, in the first 6 months of the year, organized a delegation to visit and support 122 million VND to 5 people in difficult circumstances and illnesses.

According to the leaders of the Provincial Red Cross Society, promoting the role of a bridge and coordinator in humanitarian activities and the Red Cross movement, the Provincial Red Cross Society continues to strive to successfully complete all set targets and activities such as: strengthening the review and consolidation of the organization of members, volunteers, and Red Cross youth at all levels; continuing to promote strengths in propaganda and mobilization of humanitarian events and voluntary blood donation through mass media channels. At the same time, improving the quality of inspection and supervision work at all levels of the association to promptly overcome limitations and weaknesses. Promoting the advisory role with Party committees and authorities at all levels in association work; Effectively implement humanitarian programs and projects sponsored by the Central Committee and domestic and international organizations in the last 6 months of 2025. Continue to promote and improve the quality and effectiveness of the campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address", focusing on supporting people with disabilities, poor households and disadvantaged people.

The above achievements partly demonstrate the spirit of humanity, responsibility and continuous efforts of the Red Cross Associations at all levels in the province, and at the same time affirm the role of the Association in the political system and social life of the province. The Association will continue to promote its core role in humanitarian activities, being a trusted address for people from all walks of life, individuals, organizations and philanthropists to send their trust, share and contribute to humanitarian activities, so that the humanitarian journey will continue to spread love widely in the community.
