VHO - On the morning of June 5 (May 10th of the lunar calendar), at Hon Noi Yen Island, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company organized the Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival 2025.
This is an activity that attracts the attention of many people and tourists when the Festival has just been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage and is an activity within the series of events of Khanh Hoa Sea Culture - Tourism Festival 2025.
The festival shows pride in the nearly 700-year-old historical tradition of the profession, honoring and paying tribute to the Ancestors, the Holy Mother and predecessors of the bird's nest profession.
According to historical records, in 1328, Navy Admiral Le Van Dat (during the Tran Dynasty) was the one who discovered the islands where swiftlets nested in the Binh Khang sea area (today's swiftlet island). He is honored as the founder of the Vietnamese bird's nest industry.
The successor of the ancestor was An Phu Su Binh Khang Le Van Quang, the 21st generation descendant of the ancestor Le Van Dat, and his daughter Le Thi Huyen Tram - Grand Admiral of the Tay Son Navy, who took on the mission of protecting and developing the bird's nest islands.
In particular, people do not forget to engrave the 10th day of the 5th lunar month in 1793 - the day Grand Admiral Le Thi Huyen Tram, her father and other generals sacrificed their lives in the war to protect sovereignty and the swallow islands. Since then, people have honored her as the Holy Mother of the Island and built a temple on the swallow island.
And every year on the 10th day of the 5th lunar month is the day of the Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival.
