This event has attracted considerable attention from locals and tourists alike, as the festival has recently been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage and is part of the Khanh Hoa Sea Culture and Tourism Festival 2025.
The festival expresses pride in the nearly 700-year-old historical tradition of the bird's nest industry, honoring and paying tribute to the founding ancestor, the Holy Mother, and the pioneers of the bird's nest industry.
According to historical records, in 1328, Admiral Le Van Dat (during the Tran Dynasty) discovered islands where swallows nested in the Binh Khang sea area (the swallows' nest islands today). He is revered as the founder of the Vietnamese swallow's nest industry.
Succeeding the founding ancestor was An Phu Su Binh Khang Le Van Quang, the 21st-generation descendant of the founding ancestor Le Van Dat, along with his daughter Le Thi Huyen Tram - Grand Admiral of the Tay Son Navy, who undertook the mission of protecting and developing the swiftlet islands.
In particular, people remember the 10th day of the 5th lunar month of 1793 - the time when Grand Admiral Le Thi Huyen Tram, along with her father and other generals, sacrificed their lives in the battle to protect national sovereignty and the swiftlet islands. Since then, the people have revered her as the Holy Mother of the Island and erected a shrine in her honor on Swiftlet Island.
And every year on the 10th day of the 5th lunar month, the Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest Festival takes place.

Speaking at the festival, Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Van - Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest State-owned Company Limited, shared:
The Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest Festival is a vivid testament to the close connection between humans and nature, between the past and the present.
Through their appreciation and preservation efforts, the people of Khanh Hoa are contributing to the conservation and promotion of a precious cultural heritage, ensuring that fine traditional values are passed down through generations; contributing to the further development of tourism and the province's socio-economic progress.
The Khánh Hòa Bird's Nest Festival, recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, affirms the important role of the community in jointly preserving this heritage.

Preserving and promoting the cultural and historical value of bird's nest is the responsibility of the entire community so that this essence is preserved, sustainably continued, and strongly disseminated on the journey of integration, bringing the Khanh Hoa bird's nest brand to the world stage.
This is also an opportunity for the community involved in the swiftlet farming industry and the people to respectfully express their gratitude and remembrance of the great contributions of the founding ancestors, the Holy Mother, and the predecessors who established and developed the swiftlet farming industry.
Upholding the responsibility of preserving, promoting, and enhancing the traditional values of the industry, and developing the swiftlet farming industry to become increasingly strong; worthy of the great contributions of the pioneers of the swiftlet farming industry.
On this occasion, Khanh Hoa Bird's Nest Company awarded prizes to 15 individuals with outstanding achievements in the Khanh Hoa bird's nest industry in 2025; and presented commemorative gifts to representatives of the Le clan in Vinh Nguyen and Phuoc Hai wards, Nha Trang City.
