“The weather in Hanoi has been quite sunny and hot these past few days, but the team is in good spirits. My teammates and I are still preparing well for the 2023 Women's World Cup. This morning, the team had a pretty heavy physical training session with fitness coach Cedric. This week, the team will have two friendly matches on Friday and Saturday with the 2023 SEA Games veteran team and the US Embassy team,” Ngan Thi Van Su said.
Since May 26, the Vietnamese women's team has started training with the official match ball of the 2023 Women's World Cup. Sharing about the OCEAUNZ ball - the official ball at the Women's World Cup, player Van Su shared: "I also heard my teammates say that the new ball is quite hard, the ball's trajectory is uncomfortable, but the whole team is gradually getting used to the new ball. Although I haven't fully adapted to the new ball, I have ensured about 90%."
The Vietnamese women's team will have 5 more days of training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center before moving to Germany on the morning of June 5.
In Germany, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will have three friendly matches with Eintracht Frankfurt (June 10), Short Mainz (June 15) and the German women's team (June 24).
During the training trip in Germany, the Vietnamese women's team will have a short tour in Poland to compete with the Polish U23 women's team on June 21.
“It is also difficult to predict the upcoming match against Germany. For me, Germany is like the Philippines, with a tall physique and very good physical endurance. Coach Mai Duc Chung always tells the whole team that if we are smaller, we must be fast and have good technique to pass people when facing stronger teams. I will also try to be on the list of participants in the Women's World Cup finals. The whole team is excited because this is the first time Vietnamese women's football has participated in this arena," added midfielder of the Vietnamese women's team, Ngan Thi Van Su.
