Billiards schedule today: Vietnamese players compete at World Cup Ankara

The 2025 Ankara Billiards World Cup kicks off today (June 9) in Türkiye, with the first qualifying round matches starting at 3:00 p.m. (Vietnam time).

The first Vietnamese player to enter the field at this tournament is Nguyen Dinh Luan. In the first qualifying round of the Ankara 2025 Billiards World Cup, Dinh Luan is in Group N with Athanasios Matiakis (Greece) and Stefan Biallas (Germany). In the first match, Matiakis will face Biallas. Meanwhile, Nguyen Dinh Luan will meet the two players mentioned above in the second and third matches of Group N. The Vietnamese player officially entered the field at 7:30 p.m., before playing the decisive match at 10:30 p.m.

The first qualifying round of the Ankara 2025 Billiards World Cup has a total of 48 players competing, divided equally into 16 groups (3 players each). The players compete in a round-robin to calculate points and rank, hitting 30 points with the same number of cues (with a draw). The top player in each group will advance to the second qualifying round.

In recent World Cup billiards tournaments, Nguyen Dinh Luan has often participated. Therefore, Dinh Luan has significantly improved his skills. If he plays at his best, the Vietnamese player has a good chance of passing the first qualifying round.

Tran Quyet Chien is in the top 14 on the rankings of the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB). Therefore, the player born in 1984 was given a special opportunity to appear from the main round (round 32) of the Ankara Billiards World Cup 2025. Quyet Chien is in group D with Bao Phuong Vinh. After the qualifying rounds (1, 2, 3 and 4) ended, Tran Quyet Chien will compete. Round 32 will be held on June 13. This is also considered the most exciting competition day of the tournament held in the capital of Turkey, gathering very strong players from all over the world.

Similarly, Chiem Hong Thai and Tran Thanh Luc were also given special permission to appear from the round of 32 of the Ankara 2025 Billiards World Cup. These two players will also compete on June 13.
