Cyclone Mocha brought rain and winds of up to 195 km/h, making landfall in Myanmar and neighboring Bangladesh on May 14, deforming buildings and turning streets into rivers.

“The urgent need is for the military to lift travel restrictions, allow for required assessments, and ensure access to and delivery of life-saving services and aid,” said UN human rights chief Volker Turk.
Myanmar's military government has put the death toll at 148, mostly Rohingya in Rakhine state.
Rakhine is home to hundreds of Rohingya, many of whom live in refugee camps after decades of ethnic conflict.
The United Nations on Tuesday launched a $333 million emergency funding appeal for 1.6 million people it said were affected by Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar.
