Link production according to standards
By participating in the chain, farmers have access to new production knowledge to improve productivity and product quality. In addition, farmers have access to market information and have their products guaranteed at stable prices.

Mr. Ue (Tuoh Klah village, Glar commune, Dak Doa district) said: “I am the leader of the 4C standard coffee production group in Glar commune. The group has more than 100 households cultivating more than 200 hectares of coffee.
After nearly 10 years of working with Vinh Hiep Company Limited to produce 4C coffee, I have found that the results are much higher than the traditional method. Since the production association, the coffee yield has reached 4-5 tons of beans/ha. Households in the group have also been instructed on cultivation techniques and have their products purchased at prices higher than the market price."
Talking about the production efficiency according to quality standard processes, Mr. Le Huu Anh - Director of Lam Anh Agricultural and Service Cooperative (Glar commune, Dak Doa district) said: The cooperative is linking with a cooperative group to produce 300 hectares of coffee, mainly according to the 4C process. Participating in the association, households are supported with cultivation techniques, practice according to the 4C rules and are guaranteed product output with a price 200-300 thousand VND/ton higher than the market price.
Thanks to that, members have changed their farming practices; productivity and quality of the garden have increased significantly. Currently, the average coffee yield of member households is about 4 tons of beans/ha.

The province currently has about 240,791 hectares of crops linked to production and product consumption. Participants include 95 cooperatives, 72 cooperative groups, 23,806 farming households and 69 enterprises.
Typically, Vinh Hiep Company Limited has cooperated to grow more than 20,000 hectares of coffee according to 4C, UTZ, and Organic processes; DOVECO Gia Lai Vegetable and Fruit Import-Export One Member Co., Ltd., Nafoods Tay Nguyen Joint Stock Company has cooperated to produce about 2,090 hectares of various crops; Loc Troi Group has cooperated to grow 1,013 hectares of biomass corn and 229.6 hectares of rice; Truong Sinh International Science Development Company Limited has formed a value chain linkage for production and consumption of medicinal herbs in the province with a total area of 231.45 hectares...

Create large source of goods for export
Currently, the role of cooperatives is reflected in many stages of the export value chain such as: developing raw material areas, building growing area codes, and tracing origins. In addition, cooperatives are also the link with export enterprises.
In addition to coffee, the production chain of high-value export fruits such as passion fruit and durian is being implemented by cooperatives.
Ms. Do Thi My Thom - Director of Hung Thom Gia Lai Agricultural and Service Cooperative (Dak Ta Ley Commune, Mang Yang District) shared: "Since 2018, the Cooperative has cooperated with local farmers to produce passion fruit. Currently, the Cooperative's raw material area has grown to about 300 hectares, of which 100 hectares are produced according to GlobalGAP standards.
Every year, the cooperative often organizes training programs for associated households to grasp production processes, quality standards, identify pest and disease problems, digitize traceability... to meet market requirements.
According to Ms. Thom, currently, the market demand for fresh passion fruit is very large for export to China and some countries in the RCEP region. In fact, passion fruit products produced according to European standards are much more expensive than lemons. Therefore, this is a sustainable direction for members and farmers to feel secure in production.
Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Durian Association of Cat Tan village (Ia Bang commune, Chu Prong district), said: “The Association currently has 56 members growing more than 80 hectares of durian. Over the years, the Association has linked farmers to unify the production process to create products of consistent quality and large enough output to meet the needs of partners.
Currently, the Farmers' Association is promoting the planting of durian according to VietGAP standards and developing a code for growing areas. The durian products of the Farmers' Association are purchased by businesses at high prices and continue to raise the issue of purchasing for export in the near future.

Assessing the effectiveness of linking agricultural production for export, Mr. Doan Ngoc Co - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - said: Linking production and product consumption is carried out according to the principle of clear input, stable output, application of science, technology, and advanced techniques to help improve productivity, increase the value of agricultural products, aiming at developing the agricultural economy in a sustainable direction, creating a source of quality goods for export.
Gia Lai agricultural products have now penetrated the markets of nearly 50 countries around the world. In particular, participation in free trade agreements has created opportunities for Gia Lai agricultural products to enter large markets.
The province’s main export products are still coffee and fruit. These two industries have contributed more than 90% of the province’s export turnover in the past 3 years.
Besides the tariff advantages, technical trade barriers are strict requirements, requiring the agricultural sector to quickly adapt.
Production linkage with the participation of cooperatives and enterprises plays an important role in supporting and guiding people to produce according to standard processes, creating quality goods.
"Currently, the province has formed concentrated raw material areas for commodity production in the direction of linkage with consumption. Therefore, building strong, capable cooperatives and cooperative groups, proactively participating in linkage with enterprises will gradually form a value chain from production to processing and export" - Mr. Co added.
