Among the cases, patient LTL (7 years old, residing in Ca Mau ) was transferred to Children's Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh City with a widespread infection in the eye socket, swelling, and severe pain. Imaging results showed a foreign object deeply embedded in the soft tissue, damaging the superior branch of cranial nerve III, posing a risk of vision loss. The surgical team quickly and successfully removed a 1.5cm piece of wood, drained pus from the eye socket, and administered intensive antibiotic treatment. The child is now stable.
At Children's Hospital 2, doctors also performed an emergency endoscopy on a 12-month-old child who had swallowed a safety pin. The medical team quickly and safely handled the situation, successfully removing the foreign object without causing harm to the child.
