Quang Ngai Border Guard Command said that from December 28 to 30, Sa Huynh, Pho Quang (Duc Pho Town) and Binh Thanh (Binh Son) Border Guard Stations and local people continuously discovered many objects suspected of being drugs drifting ashore in the province. Quang Ngai Border Guard has directed units to collect, seal and request competent authorities to appraise.

Specifically, on December 29 and 30, while collecting scrap on the coast of Pho Thanh ward and Pho Khanh commune (Duc Pho town), fishermen Luong Duc Thang (23 years old), Luong Duc Thinh (30 years old) and fisherman Vo Tan Hop (26 years old), all residing in the above 2 communes and wards, discovered 3 rectangular plastic bags (32cm long, 15cm wide), with foreign letters printed on the body of the bags, each bag containing about 1kg of white crystalline substance drifting.

Suspecting that the discovered object was drugs, the fishermen contacted the Sa Huynh Border Guard Station and local police to collect and seal it.

On the same day, December 29, at the coast of Le Thuy Village, Binh Tri Commune (Binh Son), Mr. Ao Cong Sang (39 years old), residing in Le Thuy Village, Binh Tri Commune, discovered a plastic bag of about 0.5 kg containing a light yellow powder floating; Mr. Sang called the Binh Thanh Border Guard Station and Binh Tri Commune Police to collect it. Through a quick test, the light yellow substance tested positive for drugs.

Previously, at 5:00 p.m. on December 28, Mr. Phan Thanh Lam (42 years old), in Pho Quang Ward (Duc Pho Town) picked up a plastic bag, weighing about 1kg, with the words QING SHAN printed on the outside, containing many white crystals on the beach of Pho Quang Ward. After collecting it, Mr. Lam handed it over to Pho Quang Border Guard Station.

Realizing that the incident had unusual signs, Pho Quang Border Guard Station coordinated with local police to patrol the coastal area and discovered and collected another plastic bag with the same shape, size and weight as the package that Mr. Lam had handed over. Through rapid testing, the crystalline substance in the two plastic bags tested positive for drugs, the type Ketamine.

In just nearly 3 days, units of the Quang Ngai Border Guard Command and local people discovered and collected more than 5kg of suspected drug crystals floating ashore in Quang Ngai province.

It is known that more than a month ago (November 25), Quang Ngai Border Guard also discovered and collected more than 9kg of cannabis herbs drifting ashore in Thanh Thuy village, Binh Hai commune (Binh Son).
