Within the framework of the programs taking place in Cuba, the Long An Provincial Delegation attended many investment and trade cooperation activities organized by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in coordination with the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and Promotion Agencies in the capital city of Havana.
On November 8, local time, a delegation from Long An province attended the Vietnam - Cuba Business Forum held at the ExpoCuba Fairground Convention Center, Havana.

In his opening speech at the forum, the leader of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce highly appreciated the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries. The two sides have carried out practical activities to upgrade the political and diplomatic relationship throughout, maintain the fraternal bond and always pay attention and create favorable conditions for the people in general and businesses of the two countries in particular to upgrade the cooperative relationship to a new level. In recent times, the two sides have promoted bilateral investment cooperation commensurate with the political and diplomatic relationship.
Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Long An province Mai Van Nhieu said that despite being geographically far apart, Vietnam and Cuba have always accompanied each other and have similarities in the cause of building and defending the country, revolutionary ideals and heroic traditions of the two nations.
He assessed that promoting bilateral trade and investment cooperation based on the foundation of political ties is not only the desire of the provincial leaders but also the aspiration of the local people. The leaders of Long An province affirmed their commitment to strengthening investment and trade relations with Cuban partners, and expressed their confidence in the expectation of development cooperation and investment connection between businesses of the two countries.
At the end of the forum, the Long An delegation attended the 39th Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2023) - the largest fair in Central America and the Caribbean, gathering over 4,500 business representatives from 70 countries and territories around the world .

Notably, the event featured booths of Vietnamese businesses and brands to promote typical, high-quality products to boost export activities to the Latin American market.
Next, on the morning of November 9, local time, Long An provincial leaders had a working session with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Ricardo Cabrisas.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ricardo Cabrisas pledged to have special support policies for Vietnamese enterprises wishing to research and invest in Cuba. If there are any difficulties, Cuban government agencies will actively support and even have direct dialogue.
In response to the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Lam expressed his gratitude for the reception of Mr. Ricardo Cabrisas. Mr. Lam expressed his hope that the provincial government and provincial enterprises will have connections for investment cooperation in Cuba in the future.

As part of the main activities of the working schedule in Cuba, the provincial delegation had a working session with the Management Board of the Mariel Special Economic Zone. This is the first and only special industrial zone in Cuba located in Artemisa province, with a prime geographical location in the center of the Caribbean Sea, at the crossroads of major maritime trade routes in the Western Hemisphere.
The leaders of the Mariel Special Zone Management Board hope to have many opportunities to exchange information and introduce and promote the characteristics and investment potential of Mariel Special Zone to the Vietnamese business community in general and Long An in particular.
Speaking at the meeting, Long An provincial leaders highly appreciated the preparations to orient the development of Mariel economic zone in the future.
In particular, investment attraction policy mechanisms have been formed and promoted the strength of choosing locations to form special economic zones that are very suitable to the characteristics and development situation of Cuba.
The province will inform about Mariel to Long An enterprises wishing to invest abroad and through VCCI to have connections to learn more in the near future.
During the working program in Cuba, the delegation surveyed a number of projects, industrial models, high-tech agriculture, and famous culture in Cuba before moving to the United States to continue investment and trade promotion activities.
