Just a short time after receiving the title of Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City in 2024, Phuong My Chi was nominated in the Top 19 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces in 2024. Was Chi surprised?

I am truly honored to know that I am in the Top 19 nominees for Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces in 2024. For Chi, each award is not simply a trophy or a certificate of merit, but also a lot of trust, confidence and recognition from the Voting Council and the audience.

This award is not only a joy but also a motivation for Chi to continue to try to learn and contribute more.

What is your opinion about the Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award?

The Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award is a noble award presented by the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. For Chi, this is not only a meaningful recognition but also a great source of encouragement, adding motivation and confidence to young people on their journey to pursue their passion and contribute to the community.

The Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces Award is also a reminder for each honored individual to constantly strive, develop themselves and spread more good values ​​to society.

Busy with artistic plans, does Chi think about arranging time to do more community activities or to encourage the community spirit of young people?

I always keep in mind that I am young, the things I have the most are health and time. Therefore, Chi always wants to be able to contribute the most, both to art and the community. Therefore, up to now, whenever there is an opportunity to participate in a meaningful project, Chi is always ready.

However, Chi strongly supports young people with a socially oriented spirit. In fact, when you do something for the community, you think you are “giving” but in reality you are contributing to your own living environment to become better and more positive. It is said to be “contributing” but it is also “building” for yourself, it is said to be “giving” but it does not lose anything, on the other hand, it “gains” a lot.

Many people used to think that Gen Z is often indifferent to current events, but looking at young people like Phuong My Chi, that seems not to be true. What is Chi's opinion on charity and community activities? Do you ever feel pressured to participate in charity activities as a celebrity?

For Chi, each generation has its own identity, each individual in that generation has their own way of looking at the times and expressing themselves. Chi is lucky to have been to many places and met many people. Even luckier is that she has met many lovely and positive people.

All of Chi's friends, siblings and even her audience are very "young". For Chi, "young" is not measured by age but by their thinking and perspective on life.

These “young” people are very active and willing to spread and contribute the best things to society within their capacity. Every volunteer activity, no matter how small or large, little or much, is very valuable.

Chi has never felt pressured to do charity work because she is a famous person. Chi participates in and carries out those activities not only because of responsibility but also because of her passion and desire to contribute.

What is the significance of music and folk culture in Phuong My Chi's musical journey?

I love Vietnamese culture, in all ages; folk culture is an endless source of inspiration for my artistic creation. Our country's culture is very beautiful and rich, there are still many things for me to learn and explore.

Every time like that, Chi loves Vietnam more and more, sees how beautiful her country is, with so many interesting things. It inspires her a lot and urges her desire to do art.

Phuong My Chi transforms her love of Vietnamese culture into musical works, which are widely accepted by the public.

Where did the idea of ​​singing and dramatizing folk tales and literary works taught in schools come from? How long will you pursue this project?

As Chi shared, through each project, she has more opportunities to learn and gain new knowledge. Ideas are also nurtured and grown during her career. However, the success of each project also comes from the efforts of the whole team.

Each person has their own strengths, Chi and everyone together contribute to the project to be completed and of the best quality before launching it to the audience. Having talented and enthusiastic teammates is also Chi's luck in her artistic journey.

Why did Chi give her first show for free instead of selling tickets? What do you think about the effectiveness of school tours?

School Tour is not simply a show marking a milestone in Chi's career, I also want to take that opportunity to give my audience the most memorable music night.

Chi's audience is mostly students, students who don't have much money. Therefore, Chi doesn't sell tickets but wants to see this as an opportunity to gather with her audience, the people who love her. There, joy and emotions are put above all else.

With prestigious professional awards and a spirit of continuous dedication to the community, Phuong My Chi is in the Top 19 nominees for Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces 2024.

What is your secret to continuous success in your career?

Actually, Chi doesn't have any secret (laughs). Chi just does everything with passion, responsibility, gratitude and her desire to contribute.

Why did you accept the role of the main character in the film? How was your first movie experience? Which scene did you find the most difficult or would you like to do again?

I define myself as an artist who tries to contribute the most to art. Therefore, whenever there is an opportunity, Chi is ready to participate. Moreover, Nha gia tien is also a very meaningful project. In a film, it promotes a lot of Vietnamese culture. From the art of glass painting, the specialty of banh xeo to the culture of ancestor worship, all of those things make the film extremely meaningful and humane. At the same time, it is also in line with what Chi has been aiming for.

Who are you most grateful for in your life so far? Who is an inspirational figure to you? Who is the person you most want to meet and what would you say to them when you do?

When it comes to gratitude, Chi feels that listing is never enough. In each stage, each journey, she meets different companions. Some leave, some stay, but all contribute a very unique color to the picture of Chi's life. Perhaps that's why Chi's life is always colorful. Chi is grateful to everyone.

What difficulties and challenges are artists of your generation facing? In your opinion, what policies should the State or management agencies have to support young artists to promote music and the cultural industry to develop further?

Chi always feels lucky to be born, raised and work in Vietnam, an independent, free and happy country.

Moreover, Vietnam is rich in culture, always providing conditions for young people to be creative and honor the good values ​​of their homeland.

For Chi, every timely recognition is a profound encouragement for young artists to have more motivation to develop their careers and contribute to art.
