The reason De Ligt is thriving

Center-back Matthijs de Ligt confirmed that he is entering the peak of his career at Manchester United.

Entering his second season at Old Trafford, De Ligt told MUTV : "I feel like I'm reaching the peak of my career. As a centre-back, usually 29-31 is the best time, and I'm only 26 but I've had a lot of experience. I hope to maintain this form."

The Dutch midfielder stressed: "It was important for me to have a full pre-season. This is probably the first time in the last five or six years that I have had a summer that was not affected by transfers, injuries or major tournaments. The last time was my last season at Ajax and it was one of the best seasons of my career. The pre-season was very important, helping me to be in good shape both physically and mentally."

De Ligt also affirmed the importance of the collective environment: "Confidence also comes from teammates and coaches, they help me feel secure on the field.
