In a statement released on October 23, the IOC said it would also suspend any discussions regarding Indonesia's future hosting of the Olympics until the country provides assurances that all athletes (regardless of nationality) will be allowed to compete on Indonesian soil.

Indonesia has repeatedly expressed its desire to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, but with the IOC's new move, their chances are almost gone.
Previously, Indonesia refused to issue visas to Israeli athletes to participate in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held last week in Jakarta.
The Israel Gymnastics Federation expressed “deep shock and disappointment” at Indonesia’s decision, saying the move went against the spirit of sportsmanship and international equality.
The IOC also announced that it will adjust the regulations related to Olympic qualifying, to ensure that all athletes, regardless of nationality, have the right to compete in qualifying events for the Olympics.

In the past, Indonesia was also stripped of the right to host the 2023 U20 World Cup after banning Israeli players from entering the country (Photo: PSSI).
In addition, the IOC requested the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to attend a meeting at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne (Switzerland) to clarify the incident. The time of this meeting has not been announced.
It is worth mentioning that in the past, Indonesia banned Israeli players from participating in the U20 World Cup held in Bali in 2020. After that, FIFA decided to strip the archipelago country of hosting rights.
