Vietnam women's team meets rival again
The Vietnamese women's team came to the 33rd SEA Games as the defending champions, holding the record of winning 4 consecutive women's football gold medals in the last 4 SEA Games since 2009.
At the upcoming 33rd SEA Games, women's football will take place from December 4 to December 12, in which coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will be in group B with two very strong opponents, the Philippines and Myanmar, along with Malaysia.
The Philippines has never been an easy opponent for the Vietnamese women's team, who won the 2022 ASEAN Cup after defeating Thailand 3-0. That was also the tournament where coach Mai Duc Chung and his team came up empty-handed after losing 3-4 to Myanmar in the bronze medal match.

In the latest ASEAN Cup 2025 tournament that just took place at Lach Tray Stadium, Myanmar defeated Thailand to reach the final, only losing narrowly to Australia 0-1 and receiving silver medal.
In the 30th and 31st SEA Games in the Philippines and Vietnam, the Myanmar and Philippines teams won bronze medals respectively. In the most recent 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, Myanmar reached the finals before losing to the Vietnamese women's team 0-2.
Those parameters predict a difficult match for our girls at IPE Chonburi Stadium in Chonburi City (Thailand).
Schedule advantage

One advantage is that coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will start with a "warm-up" match against the weakest opponent in Group B, Malaysia, at 7:30 p.m. on December 4, while before that, they will have time to "watch" Myanmar's decisive match with the Philippines at 4 p.m. the same day.
In the second round, the Vietnamese women's team will face the Philippines at 7:30 p.m. on December 7, while Myanmar will face Malaysia in the previous match at 4 p.m. The final round will see the Vietnamese women's team face Myanmar while the Philippines will face Malaysia.
A huge advantage for coach Mai Duc Chung and his team, which can also be considered a privilege for the defending champions, is that all three group stage matches take place in the evening at 7:30 p.m., avoiding the exhaustion of having to go out on the field in the sun at 4 p.m.
